Two Milwaukee Southside Homicides Reported By Police And 21 People Injured By Gunfire Near The Fiserv Forum Deer District Over Weekend, 11 Suspects Arrested In Downtown Shootings

Two Milwaukee Southside homicides reported by police on late Saturday and early Sunday, and 21 people injured by gunfire near the Fiserv Forum Deer District on Friday, also Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson enacted Proclamation for two-day curfew for Saturday and Sunday for 21 under, outdoor Bucks Team big-screen TV's watch game at Deer District cancelled for Sunday.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - Milwaukee police responded to shots fired on late Saturday, May 14, 2022 at around the 11:45p.m. at the 1100 block of W. Rogers St. and located a deceased 21-year-old White male.

In an unrelated shooting Saturday, a 48-year-old man was critically wounded around 8:35a.m. at the 2500 block of W. Rogers St. and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Also on early Sunday, May 15, 2022, police responded around 2:30a.m. to a shooting report at the 1900 block of W. Lincoln Ave. and discovered Juan Luis Estela Ortiz, 28, dead at the crime scene.

On May 11, 2022, Arthur B. Williams, 32, was fatally shot around 1:45p.m. at the 2400 block of S. 5th Place in the Southside due to a domestic dispute at a home. A known suspect is being sought by police.

On Friday, at least 21 people were shot ages 15 to 40, no fatalities reported in the Deer District sports entertainment Fiserv Forum outdoor area while celebrating the Bucks - Celtics game. The Milwaukee Bucks lost to the Boston Celtics in Game 6 of the NBA's Eastern Conference semifinals.

The outdoor viewing area at Fiserv Forum had at least 11,000 fans who were watching the game, the Bucks team management reported.

Some spectators at the event also reported that there was a lack of outdoor portable toilets in some adjacent areas.

The outdoor big-scteen TV watch party at Deer District has been canceled for Sunday night, according to the Bucks team.

In the first shooting was reported at around 9:10p.m. on Friday, 3 individuals were shot including a 16-year-old girl, after more than an hour later, a 21-year-old man was shot in the second reported shooting, and in the third shooting incident, police reported at least 17 people were shot. A shootout between two groups led to more than 22 gunshots fired near the Deer District.

Police arrested 11 individuals in connection with the shootings near the Fiserv Forum Deer District in downtown Milwaukee and 9-firearms were recovered by police. Of those suspects arrested, five males ages 20, 21, 28, 29 and 30 sustained gunshot injuries and were treated at a local hospital and then taken into custody.

On Saturday, Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson enacted a Curfew Proclamation for both Saturday and Sunday nights from 11p.m. to 5:30a.m., which prohibits anyone under 21 to be around or near the Deer District neighborhood including part of the downtown area. More police will be assigned to the area.

Milwaukee Police will enforce the Mayor's Curfew Proclamation, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.
