Laredo Police Officer Jesús Hernández Charged With Indecently Assaulting A Woman And Oppression In Webb County Texas

Hernández turned himself in to authorities after a warrant for his arrested was issued.

Laredo, Texas - On Wednesday, Jesús Hernández, 49, surrendered to authorities and booked in the Webb County jail after a warrant was issued charging him with two misdemeanor counts for indecent assault and official oppression of a woman. If convicted, Hernández is facing up to 1 year in jail and up to $4,000 in fines for official oppression and is facing up to 1 year in jail and up to $4,000 in fines for indecent assault. Hernández bail bond was set at $1,000 for each count.

According to the criminal affidavit, on April 6, 2022, the Laredo Police Department received a complaint by a woman who alleged that on March 19, 2022 around 3:00 a.m., she was at the 800 block of Santa Ursula Ave. trying to locate her vehicle. Police Officer Hernández while on duty assisted the woman to look for her vehicle and she accompanied him in the vehicle he was driving. He then indecently touched her in a sexual manner over her clothes, according to the complaint.

Hernández, a 25-year veteran in the police department was placed on administrative duty while an internal investigation by the Laredo Police Department (LPD) Office of Professional Standards was conducted. The LPD criminal complaint was filed with the Webb County District Attorney's Office on Tuesday who reviewed the complaint and issued a warrant for Hernández arrest.
