66-year-old Hells Angels Leader Richard J. Devries And Two Motorcycle Club Prospects Russell Smith, 26, and Stephen Alo, 46, Charged With Attempted Murder Of 7 Rival Vagos Members And Affiliates

The Henderson police in Nevada reported a highway shooting investigation that left 7 motorcycle club Vagos members and affiliates injured.

Henderson, Nevada - On May 29th, 2022, at about 11:50 A.M., the City of Henderson Police (HPD) and Fire Departments responded to a reported shooting that occurred on northbound US-95 Freeway at College Drive, according a press releaseby the HPD. 

The preliminarily investigation indicates that the involved subjects are all members or affiliates of rival Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMG's), the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club (MC) and the Vagos MC. The HA's members were apparently waiting on the side of the highway waiting to ambush the Vagos and were video recorded by a witness who turned over the video to police. Also, cellphone GPS records indicated that Devries, Smith and Alo were in the area when the shooting incident occurred.

Officers arrived on scene to discover multiple subjects who had sustained gunshot wounds. Six Vagos MC members and club affiliates were transported to a local area hospital; two subjects were said to be in critical condition. A seventh subject arrived at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was confirmed to be involved in the shooting. 

Investigators were able to identify three suspects involved as 66-year-old Richard Devries, the President of the Las Vegas Hells Angels (HA) Motorcycle Club chapter, and two HA MC prospects, 46-year-old Stephen Alo, and 26-year-old Russell Smith.

Devries, Alo, and Smith were taken into custody and booked into the Henderson Detention Center on the following felony charges: 

• 6 counts Attempt Murder with a Deadly Weapon (penalty between 2 to 20 years in prison upon conviction)

• 6 counts Battery with use of a Deadly Weapon causing Substantia Bodily Harm
(criminal gang enhancement) (penalty between 1 to 6 years in prison and up to $5,000 in fines for each count and 20 additional years in prison for gang enhancement charges)

▪︎ 6 counts Discharge Gun at/into Occupied Structure/Vehicle 
(criminal gang enhancement) (penalty between 1 to 6 years in prison and up to $5,000 in fines for each count and 20 additional years in prison for gang enhancement charges)

• 1 count Conspiracy to Commit Murder with Deadly Weapon (penalty between 2 to 10 years in prison and up to $5,000 in fines)

If convicted on all felony counts, Devries, Alo and Smith are facing life in prison.

According to police, US-95 from Boulder Highway to Horizon Drive and Horizon Drive from Pacific Avenue to the US-95 were closed in both directions for several hours while the investigation took place.  

The Henderson Police Department is the lead investigating agency for this incident although this incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol, according to the HPD press release.
