Milwaukee, Wisconsin- On Wednesday, the First Federal Bank of Wisconsin (formerly Mitchell Street State Bank-MSSB) at the 1000 block of W. Historic Mitchell Street held their official Grand Opening. First Federal Bank of Wisconsin (FFBW) was established in 1922 and the bank executives celebrated their 100th anniversary in conjunction with the Grand Opening at W. Historic Mitchell Street location.

The FFBW executives including First Federal chief executive and chief executive officer Edward Schaefer were at the Milwaukee Southside location on Wednesday along with Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson and Milwaukee Common Council President José G. Pérez who is the current 12 District Alderman in the area, to officially conduct the Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Ald. Pérez says the MSSB was one of the first financial institutions in Milwaukee to offer loans and banking services to the local Hispanic immigrant population by accepting the IRS ITIN number for undocumented workers (who didn't have a valid Social Security number) in the community.

The MSSB has had a history of providing financial services to immigrants since 1907.

The FFBW bought the Mitchell Bank in December 2020 and had been gradually going through remodeling and renovation including the adjacent drive through section for the last 21 months.

The FFBW provided complimentary tacos and beverages by Taquería Corazón and paletas (Mexican popsicles) to those attending.

Jon D. Rogers From Waukesha Placed Craigslist House Rental Ad With "Not Hispanic or Latino" Allegedly Restricting Certain Individuals From Applying

Craigslist house rental owner restricts Hispanics or Latinos from applying?

By H. Nelson Goodson
Hispanic News Network U.S.A.

September 25, 2022

Waukesha. Wisconsin - Looks like a owner of rental home and property in Waukesha doesn't want Hispanics or Latinos to apply for a 3-bedroom house that's up for rent.

The guy goes by the name Jon in the Craigslist listing and his contact # is 262-278-8137.

According to the Waukesha tax roll, the rental house is located at 805 S. East Avenue in Waukesha and the property owner is Jon D. Rogers.

I guess he doesn't know the State or federal law that he can't discriminate against Hispanics or Latinos. It seems any other individual from any other race than a Hispanic can apply.

Rogers later changed his house rental ad by removing "Not Hispanic or Latino" (NHOL), which only indicates he got exposed. Instead, he later replaced NHOL with (Waukesha), but It's a bit late because the actual Craigslist posting was copied and shared in social media.

One thing for sure, Rogers never responded when asked what did he actually meant with adding NHOL in his Craigslist house rental ad.

Waukesha County and City is known for being the epic center of the Wisconsin Trump MAGA (Make Amerikkka Great Again) cult.

Laredo, Texas - On Thursday, U.S. District Court Judge Alfred H. Bennett in Houston sentenced former Webb County Police Constable Rodolfo "Rudy" Rodriguez Jr., 62, to 6 years in a federal prison with condition of serving 12 months and a day in prison and five years of extended supervision, according to federal court case records. Rodriguez was also ordered not to have contact with the victim under a guilty plead agreement.

Rodriguez remains free on bail and must surrender at the Federal Bureau of Prisons at a date to be determined later.

Rodriguez pleaded guilty as a result of a plea agreement with federal prosecutors in the U.S. District Court Southern District of Texas to one count of attempted attempting to entice an individual to travel in foreign commerce to engage in prostitution.

According to the federal indictment Rodriguez engaged in coercion and enticement of an individual for the purpose of foreign commerce in prostitution activities (from Mexico to the U.S.) between June 1 and September 26, 2019 violating Section 43.02(b) of the Texas Penal Code.

Rodriguez had been a Webb County Police Constable in Laredo, Texas in Precinct 1 for at least 17 years and won reelection in 2020 with 57% of the vote.

The Webb County Commission accepted Rodriguez's resignation on March 28.

A school building in the Laredo Independent School District was named after Rodriguez for his years of service as a Texas Constable, but the school board later decided to remove his name from the school police safety building after he was indicted by the feds.

Madison, Wisconsin - On Thursday, Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation (WI DOJ DCI) agent Mark Wagner, 49, based in Milwaukee was criminally charged with one felony count for 2nd-degree recklessly endangering safety and use of a dangerous weapon in connection with the February 3, 2022 shooting of Quadren L. Wilson, 38, in Madison who was on parole. Wagner and WI DOJ DCI agent Nathan Peskie were the only two agents of 21 law enforcement officers involved in executing an arrest warrant against Wilson who was unarmed at the time, that actually fired multiple gunshots at Wilson from behind his vehicle. Peskie has not been criminally charged yet, according to court records.

If convicted, Wagner is facing up to 10 years in prison and up to $25,000 in fines for recklessly endangering safety and an additional 5 years for use of a dangerous weapon. Wagner remains free on a $500 signature bond.

Wagner is scheduled for a status court hearing in Dane County on October 28, 2022.

Wilson was shot in the back multiple times while unarmed, inside his vehicle and complying with officer orders during a vehicle boxed-in stop.

None of the officers involved in the February 3, 2022 operation wore video body cameras, which are not required under their agencies policy or State law.

After being shot, Wilson was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Police involved in the operation to apprehend Wilson apparently did not find any illegal substances or a weapon in Wilson's vehicle.

Wilson was released after a day in the hospital and was booked at the Dane County Sheriff's Office, despite suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and lack of adequate medical treatment at the jail.

Darryl King Rick Farmer II and the Original Black Panthers of Milwaukee had pushed for WI DOJ DCI agents Wagner and Peskie to be criminally charged and students in Madison held a walkout and protest as well demanding justice for Wilson.

Federal Lawsuit Filed Against Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) For Illegally Transporting 48 Undocumented Venezuelans Residing In Texas To Massachusetts On False Pretenses

Governor DeSantis and the State of Florida funded more than $615,000 for multiple chartered flights to illegally transport nearly 50 undocumented Venezuelans (asylum-seekers) residing in San Antonio, Texas to Massachusetts in Mid-September on false promises and pretenses, according to the federal lawsuit complaint filed by Alianza Americas and Lawyers for Civil Rights.

Hispanic News Network U.S.A.

September 21, 2022

Boston, Massachusetts - On Tuesday, Lawyers for Civil Rights announced in a press release that a federal class action lawsuit against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), Secretary of Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jared Perdue, the State of Florida, and their accomplices, challenging the fraudulent and discriminatory scheme to transport nearly 50 vulnerable immigrants, including women and children, from San Antonio, Texas to Martha's Vineyard without shelter or resources in place. The lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court, District of Massachusetts on behalf of a class of affected immigrants, including the immigrants stranded in Martha's Vineyard, and Alianza Americas, a network of migrant-led organizations supporting immigrants across the United States.

According to the class action lawsuit (35-pages), the class action members were targeted by a female named Perla and others who were contracted to induced the targeted Venezuelan immigrants to board airplanes and cross state lines under false pretenses.

Perla and others, the accomplices of state officials, including the Florida Governor, targeted immigrants recently released from shelters and made false promises of work opportunities, schooling for the children, and immigration assistance in order to induce travel. Until immediately before landing, the affected immigrants did not know they were going to Martha's Vineyard, a geographically isolated island off the coast of Massachusetts. Once the planes landed in Martha's Vineyard those who had coerced individuals to travel under these false pretenses disappeared, leaving the affected immigrants to learn that the offers of assistance had all been a ruse to exploit them for political purposes.

The plaintiffs who are asylum-seekers claimed that they suffered "severe emotional stress"...were left "destitute and stranded" in Massachusetts after being flown from Florida via North Carolina. They asked the court for monetary compensation for the emotional trauma that they had all suffered.

Defendant Ronald Desantis has taken credit – and assumed responsibility – for the unlawful relocation scheme and pledged to continue this reprehensible behavior. In addition to asking the federal court to enjoin Defendants from inducing immigrants to travel across state lines by fraud and misrepresentation, the class action seeks damages for the harm suffered by the migrants, according to the federal lawsuit complaint.

Previous news reports indicated that the undocumented immigrants were flown in two charter flights on September 14, 2022 from Texas to Florida, then from Florida to North Carolina and finally from North Carolina to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts.

On Monday, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar in San Antonio, Texas announced that he has initiated a criminal investigation against DeSantis, Perla and others involved in the illegal transport of undocumented Venezuelan immigrants.

Also, the National LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) is offering a $5,000 reward for the identity and the whereabouts of Perla leading to her arrest.

FL Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) Facing Criminal Investigation In Texas For Allegedly Flying 48 Undocumented Venezuelans Including Children From San Antonio To Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts On False Pretenses

An estimated 48 undocumented immigrants including children from Venezuela in Texas were lured to fly to Martha's Vineyard on false pretenses in mid-September for a video and photo session with the promise of getting jobs, which the Bexar County Sheriff's Office later learned that the migrants became stranded in Massachusetts.

By H. Nelson Goodson
Hispanic News Network U.S.A.

September 19, 2022

San Antonio, Texas - On Monday, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar announced that his department is initiating a criminal investigation against an unidentified individual (first name is Perla) and Governor Ron DeSantis (R) from Florida in connection with an individual being hired (contracted) to allegedly lure in false pretenses at least 48 Venezuelan undocumented immigrants including children from the Migrant Resource Center in San Antonio to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts.

The 48 migrants from Venezuela were promised jobs after agreeing to travel by flight to Martha's Vineyard for a video and photo shoot on September 14, 2022, then after the video and photo shoot, they were left stranded in the East Coast to fend for themselves and with no jobs.

DeSantis last week admitted that two charter flights were part of a State of Florida program to relocate undocumented immigrants from Florida to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, but the migrants originated from San Antonio, according to Sheriff Salazar.

The DeSantis propaganda relocation video featuring the Venezuelan undocumented immigrants has not been publicly released.

According to other news reports, the undocumented immigrants were flown from Texas to Florida and then to North Carolina and final destination to Martha's Vineyard. The total estimated flight cost for the State of Florida was more than $615,000.

Sheriff Salazar, a Democrat called DeSantis' relocation of 48 Venezuelan undocumented immigrants from San Antonio to the Massachusetts, a "political theater" and confirmed that he is currently working with a private attorney representing the migrants affected and with local immigrant rights advocacy groups that have stepped up to help the migrants involved. Salazar also indicated that he will cooperate with federal authorities, if the need arises, according to a press conference on Monday.

Salazar did not name DeSantis or the individual facing a criminally investigation during the press conference.

DeSantis has not responded to Sheriff Salazar's criminal investigation probe that could implicate him with conspiracy to lure 48 Venezuelan undocumented immigrants and children to travel out of state on false pretenses for the sole purpose to produce a political video to benefit DeSantis politically.

If Sheriff Salazar's criminal investigation is successful and suspects are criminally charged in Texas, the 48 Venezuelan undocumented victims could very well earn legalization in the U.S. for being victims of a crime under federal immigration laws.

On Saturday, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) organization offered a $5,000 reward for the identity of Perla leading to her arrest, according to Domingo García, National LULAC President. LULAC is taking this action of offering $5,000 reward to help stop the deliberate and possible illegal actions of deceiving people by  enticement, García says.

Perla was described as light complected woman with blonde hair.

Fernández surrendered his Texas driver's license to the State trooper and was booked at the Webb County jail.

The Laredo Police Department reported that Sgt. Fernández was placed on administrative duties pending the outcome of the case.

According to the arrest affidavit, Fernández, a 20-year police veteran was stopped around 1:22 a.m. along the Bob Bullock Loop in Webb County during a traffic violation by a Texas Department of Public Safety highway patrol officer (TX State trooper) who noticed that Fernández was impaired. Hispanic Heritage Month Indicative To A Power Grab By Latinos Around The U.S. Including Wisconsin?

By 2050, Latinos/Hispanics will be the majority in the U.S. and we need to put our differences aside to continue to succeed economically and influence political change in our local communities to better our lives by imclusively pushing for equal access to social justice for all and pave a path to success without any barriers for our generations to come, it's our duty and destiny to make the U.S.A. including Wisconsin a better place to live for everyone including people of color.

By H. Nelson Goodson
Hispanic News Network U.S.A.

September 14, 2022

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - Since, the late 1960's to 2022, the status quo or political empowerment in the local, county, state and federal government levels have never given Latinos/Hispanics and people of color anything, we as Latinos/as and people of color have had a history of continued political struggle to fight for our right to get a piece of the dream pie and have successfully strived in accomplishing gradual and radical change to make our lives better and for our children to have a future where we live.

The National Hispanic Heritage Month is a celebration and recognition of our traditions, strives and culture in the U.S. including Wisconsin. In other words, "Aquí estamos y no nos vamos, We are here today and we're not going anywhere", and it should be an awakening for all of us as we join in the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month during the many festivities scheduled for an entire month beginning on September 15 to October 15 in the U.S.

It's an election year, we will definitely see Democrats and Republicans/MAGAs aspiring for political office while others are running for reelection in local, county, state and the federal level. They will come bearing promises to get our vote to elect them into power and as history has shown us, they just fail to live up to their promises, our expectations and in one way or another do nothing to better our communities.

Let's test the political grounds locally in Milwaukee County and City, has anyone noticed that in the City of Milwaukee, a Democrat voting stronghold, we have a Black Mayor who is CavalierJohnson, a former Alderman; Southside Alderman José G. Pérez, the president of the Milwaukee Common Council who is Latino (Boricua); the Milwaukee Police Department Chief of Police Jeffrey B. Norman, who is Black; the outgoing Milwaukee County Sheriff Earnell R. Lucas (retiring) and the incoming Sheriff Denita Ball are both Black; the Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley who is also Black, and the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson who is Black and Latina (Boricua).

These are all local and county political elected officials of color who are Latinos/as and African-Americans in political and law enforcement empowerment in Milwaukee County and City of Milwaukee.

One thing for sure, they have all yet to improve the lives in one way or other of those who have elected them, the voting-age citizen taxpayer.

Let me begin with the Milwaukee Southside, some will definitely dispute what encompasses the Southside, but in Milwaukee, many consider the Menomonie Valley, Third Ward, the Milwaukee Harbor District part of the Southside of Milwaukee where the predominantly Hispanic community resides and for decades have been the largest tax revenue generating areas for the City compared to other aldermanic and business districts, which the Southside alone has more than 8 business districts and not counting other tax revenue sources for the City.

So far, the City of Milwaukee has failed to create a website to publicly post how much of tax revenue is actually generated in each aldermanic district and how much of those tax dollars return to those same districts to ensure economic progress and up keep of City services and funding to local non-profit organizations that strive to improve services to the community at large. The City tax reporting revenue and return is so intricate today, that it's difficult to get the exact amounts of tax dollars being returned to the aldermanic districts.

One would believe, having so many Blacks in political and law enforcement empowerment today, a growth of development would be taking place in the Northside of the City to create jobs and housing to help neutralize the continued homicides and rising crime. I have yet to see any credible economic effort by City officials to improve both the lives of Blacks living in the Northside and Latinos living in the Southside.

One thing I've noticed, that more Whites, Blacks, Latinos and ect. have become homeless due to the current evictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic and many of them gather day and night at many corners of our neighborhoods. The proliferation of drug addiction and overdose casualties in our City and County has risen.

Also, a proliferation of trash and public urination has risen in our communities as well. For local police district stations allowing their police officers and supervisors to come out and build partnerships with local organizations and groups to engage in trash clean up only indicates, that City elected officials have become laxed in City services, especially trash clean up from streets and sidewalks and a lack of enforcement for local business owners to wash the urination spots left in front of their businesses.

Now on the County level, Milwaukee County taxpayers contribute nearly $3B in taxes per year, which the State takes for share revenue annually and in return, the State only returns in share revenue to the County an estimated total of $250M to operate, which the County reports a $20M yearly deficit. Not one Milwaukee County supervisor or former supervisor have attempted to file a lawsuit against the Republican controlled legislature in order to get more share revenue to the County. If more share revenue would be returned to Milwaukee County, many issues plaguing the County would be resolved.

Also in the City of Milwaukee concerning share revenue, the City pays its share of combined tax revenue to the State and in return, the State distributes a share revenue to the City to operate, but through the years, the share revenue for the City has declined. In brief, the City pays the State more tax revenue than what the State returns to the City in share revenue.

For example, in 2015, the Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) reported that the State collected $1,377,329,811 per year in combined taxes from the City of Milwaukee and the State distributed at least $249.90M in share revenue and in 2018, Milwaukee received at least $228.20M in share revenue and in 2019, it received $229.30M in share revenues.

Again, if the State would return more share revenue to the City, many issues plaguing the City could be resolved. Not one alderperson in the Milwaukee Common Council has attempted to file a lawsuit against the Republican controlled legislature to get more share revenue for the City.

Isn't it time for both the County Supervisors and the Milwaukee Common Council to join in an effort to get more of our share revenue returned to our County and City?

Most noticeable today in the Milwaukee Police Department, Latinos/Hispanics are absent from the high rank and file command due to the retirement of many police supervisors, which currently the police department doesn't reflect the Latino community it serves and we should be very concerned and should push for a more representative police force including in police supervisory positions, since Latinos are taxpayers and not excluding the undocumented community that contribute more than $90M in combine taxes annually to the State of Wisconsin.

The same crisis, a lack of Latino high and rank supervisors in the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office is evident.

Time to wake-up amigos/as and to continue pushing for change as a united front.

Is the Republican/MAGA controlled legislature attempting to make the City of Milwaukee and County fail by taking our hard earned taxes annually and returning less of share revenues to our County and City? It certainly seems that they are doing so...

For example, the MAGAs have infiltrated the Milwaukee Police Association, which the City of Milwaukee is a majority Democrat voting stronghold. Also, the Republican National Committee (RNC) opened in 2021 a RNC Hispanic Community Center (Lincoln Village neighborhood) in the predominantly Hispanic community, which has a majority Democrat voting block to recruit Latinos as MAGAs (Make Amerikkka Great Again).

This year, the Republican Party of Wisconsin is holding a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at the 1500 block of W. Lincoln Ave. in the Southside of Milwaukee, on September 15, 2022 at a parking lot from 5:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m., which is being promoted by Marty Calderon, the local Pastor of God Touch. Calderon has hosted Tim Michels (R), a candidate for Wisconsin Governor at his God Touch building including other Republicans/MAGAs running for public office, but to date, Calderon hasn't hosted a single Democrat running for public office at God Touch. Michels is a known Trump supporter and Calderon has visited Donald Trump (R) when he was the U.S. President at the White House in D.C. before he lost the election in 2020 to Joe Biden (D).

Calderon says, that God Touch  is also open to host Democrat candidates as well.

MAGAs are considered a cult and extreme right conservative Republicans that follow both Trump unconditionally and QAnon, a conspiracy theory and political movement.

One thing for sure, the Republican controlled legislature and Michels who is running for Governor in Wisconsin don't actually support for undocumented drivers in the State of Wisconsin to apply for driver's licenses or permits as a road safety measure nor do they support Comprehensive Immigration Reform with a pathway to citizenship for more then 13 million undocumented taxpayers leaving in the U.S. and 70,000 undocumented taxpayers in Wisconsin.

The Latino community in Wisconsin was very instrumental in electing Governor Tony Evers (D) and Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes (D) who is Black in 2020. However, both Governor Evers and Lt. Gov. Barnes betrayed the Latino community by attempting to promote and trying to pass the People's Maps during the redistricting map effort that happens every ten years due to U.S. Census population growth. The People's Maps wanted to create more White Democratic representative State Assembly Districts, which would have made it very difficult to elect Latinos/as who are Democrats in the Southside State Assembly Districts. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled this year that the People's Maps were unconstitutional. Barnes, known as the "do nothing candidate" supported Evers in his effort to promote the People's Maps and to date, they haven't apologized to the Latino community for attempting to stab us in the back after we elected them. They sure have no shame as well.

The narrative is, we as Latinos/Hispanics do pocess the ability and voting empowerment to demand and influence political change including accountability in our own communities and state throughout the country. But at times, we only have "dumb or dumber" as candidates to choose and vote for, or as some might say evil or less evil, in any case, it appears that we always get screwed either way. Hopefully, our own candidates of color don't do the same thing and disappoint us.

Vote with your conscience amigos and amigas, but in my case, I will vote and write-in NOTA (None Of The Above) this time around. I used to vote for the less evil, but I will no longer do that.

If a candidate wants my vote, they will have to earn it and be accountable "ha dicho"!

September 9, 2022

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - Police in Milwaukee continue to search for Clayton Andrew Hubbird, 31, of Wauwatosa who was charged on September 6th with one felony count for 1st-degree reckless homicide and use of a dangerous weapon in connection with the August 29, 2022 murder of Reginald "Regina" T. Allen, 35, aka, "Mya", a Black male known transgender woman.

If convicted, Hubbird is facing up to 60 years in prison for reckless homicide and an additional 5 years in prison for use of a dangerous weapon.

According to police, Allen was shot once just before 2:14 a.m. while walking towards an apartment complex where he lived shortly after exiting from a black Tahoe SUV, a nearby surveillance camera video footage showed. Allen was still responsive when police and Milwaukee Fire Department EMS arrived at the scene. Allen was able to describe the SUV and gave a description of the White male suspect before being transported to a local hospital where he later died from the gunshot wound.

Police located the black Tahoe SUV in Wauwatosa the next day and discovered that it belonged to Hubbird. A search of Hubbird's apartment yield multiple rounds of ammunition and bullet magazines, according to the criminal complaint.

Police were able to confirm that Allen met Hubbird at a gas station located in the 1900 block of W. National Ave., in the Southside of Milwaukee. Allen was also known to frequent the Eastsouth corner of the 2000 block of W. National Ave. in a regular basis for the purpose to meet men.

Police say, Hubbird drove Allen to the 800 block of N. 26 Street where Allen lived. A nearby video surveillance camera recorded the SUV parked for a while at the location as Hubbird and Allen remained inside the vehicle. Then after a while, Allen exited the SUV's passenger side and was walking towards his apartment when a gunshot is heard and then Allen drops to the ground and is heard by a nearby witness that he has been shot. Allen was able to call 911 and provided preliminary information about what had occurred to him.

Hubbird fled the scene, according to police and remains on the run. A warrant for his arrest was issued on September 6th.

Franklin, Wisconsin - On Sunday, City of Franklin officials (council members) and police shutdown the Epoxy Man Flooring booth at St. Martins Fair on allegations that Dusten W. Johnson had a 24-page criminal rap sheet and falsified information on the permit application. According to a Facebook (FB) video posted by Margarita Moralez (FB: Margarita Yvette), she told the City of Franklin officials who came to the Epoxy Man Flooring booth at the fair that she helped filled the permit application and that Johnson signed it, since they are both venturing in the business together. Moralez did include the only felony conviction in the application that Johnson previously was convicted off and is no longer on paper (supervision).

One of the City of Franklin officials alleged that Johnson had falsified the permit application by not including all of his prior felony convictions. Moralez confirmed to Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) on Sunday that Johnson only has one felony conviction on record and not a 24-page rap sheet as alleged by the City of Franklin official.

Moralez says that the individual who signed the approval of Johnson's permit to be allowed to participate as a vendor at St. Martins Fair misspelled his name as Dustin Johnson instead of actual name Dusten Johnson.

Moralez and Johnson were forced to shutdown the Epoxy Man Flooring booth on Sunday.

The City of Franklin officials took their permit and didn't returned it to Johnson for his record. Johnson paid $90 for the vendor permit and had to use his driver's license for identification when applying for the permit on Friday.

The individual talking to Moralez in the video allegedly told her that the City of Franklin doesn't allow for felons to promote their businesses. The female individual says, "that I know so, the city code also says that no felons can obtain them (permits), okay." (Video transcript: minute 1:30 - 1:32)

In Wisconsin, felons who complete their conviction sentences can operate businesses legally and cannot be discriminated upon.

In this case, Moralez called it a racist and discrimination act by the City of Franklin officials including the council members and police involved for Sunday's incident.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Thursday, Jarrett English, 40, posted on his Facebook account that he had been shot twice (once in the hand and leg) and is going through economic hardship to pay medical bills. English is a well known local community activist and is the current Director of Housing Development at METCALFE Park Community Bridges, Inc., also he was the former Senior Field Organizer for the ACLU of Wisconsin.

According to the Milwaukee Police report, on August 27, 2022 at around 11:55 p.m. English became the victim of a shooting incident while door dashing. English was reported shot multiple times at the 4400 block of W. Center Street as he exited his vehicle, which his vehicle also showed multiple gunshot impacts as well. He suffered critical injuries in his leg and hand, but survived and is now recuperating.

Police have an ongoing investigation to locate the suspect(s) involved in the shooting.

Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) reached out to English via Messenger unsuccessfully on Saturday.

On Friday, Emilio de Torre, the Executive Director of Milwaukee Turners at Turner Hall posted on his personal Facebook account, Dear Friends, Our dear brother and community leader Jarrett English needs our assistance. This humble brilliant man is ALWAYS there for the people, and we need to support him now.

Recently, he was senselessly shot while driving and needs our support to help handle hospital bills and all of the other insane costs that pile up when some lunatic shoots you and your car up for no reason.

Please make a donation to his cashapp and share this widely.

Or you can Venmo me and I'll get it to him
@obscurios

He is too humble to ask, but I'm a loud friend.

English also posted the following message on his personal Facebook account, First and foremost, God is Good. I am here because of it and extremely thankful from the moment I stepped out of that car.
For my family and friends- I love you more than anything on this Earth.

Second, I don't typically put personal things on Facebook but I think it's important because it's part of the reality that is part of our city, and making it better than it is (which is absolutely necessary.)

The only way we will do anything about it is together...

I got shot. Twice.
Once in the leg and once in the hand. My car many more times. (I was door dashing at the time)

I'm not only ok. I'm Blessed. I won't say much about the incident itself on here, since the police are doing their thing, but needless to say- it was senseless and it was evil.

As I have when others have been through similar or worse situations,  I've thought to myself, 'what leads someone to do something like that?'

There are many answers to that question, none that absolve whomever shot me from the directly evil personal choice of pulling that trigger, but there are quite a few answers we all are responsible for that could have stopped them,  and may stop someone else, from picking up that gun in the first place. Those are answers we as a city have not provided.

As I deal with the unexpected toll, financial and otherwise, of all of this and healing mentally, spiritually, and physically, I want to make sure I heed the lesson, which will be life long.

I've been an organizer the last 15 years and a community focused housing developer the last 3 or 4 in addition to that. The main things this situation has taught me are the following: 1. Keep the Creator first, The Almighty is there when no one else can possibly be 2. Love your people more than seems possible, because it is and 3. Don't stop.

The only way any of this is going to get better is if we make it better. The only way to do that is doing together.

Thank you to the young man who stopped to help me tie my shirt as a tourniquet, thank you to the officers and EMS people who made sure I was safe and stabilized. Thank you to the dozens of doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals who made sure I will make an absolute full recovery.  I love you all.

Though I've spent significant (and worthy and necessary) time holding the institution of policing accountable- and will continue to do so- it's not a contradiction to love the people within it. Those 3 officers will always be cool with me.

To my family and the friends who have heeded my desire to keep this private until I was ready to talk about it,  thank you. I will always treasure your love and support.

I'm recovering for a little but after that the mission is to keep building.
Regardless of economic status, race, and ethnicity.

No one in Milwaukee should have to live with the constant threat of violence, Period.

We need to exorcize all those demons of self and otherwise hate and immunize our city against the evil of both the specific and indiscriminate bullet. Because everyone deserves peace.

I'll see you all soon.
