Laredo, Texas - On April 29, 2022, both Carlos Alejandro Tello, 39, and Justina Eliza Martinez, 36, on a criminal warrant were taken into custody by the Laredo Police Department after medical staff from the Laredo Medical Center (LMC) on April 18, reported to police that the parents of 9-month-old Justin Tello had taken the injured child to the fire station on Cielito Lindo Blvd and an ambulance transported the baby to the LMC for medical treatment, but after examining the baby, they discovered that he was suffering from multiple injuries.

Alejandro Tello and Martínez were charged each with three felony counts for causing injury to a child. If convicted on all counts, both Alejandro Tello and Martínez are facing up to 10 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines for each count. Alejandro Tello was released on a $70,000 bail after posting a 3% (at least $2,100) with J&E Bonds

Baby Tello was transported to the Methodist Children's Hospital in San Antonio where he later died from the injuries.

According to the criminal affidavit, the couple told police that baby Tello was recently suffering from constipation and was taken to a Nuevo Laredo doctor across the border for treatment. Also, they claimed that baby Tello had fallen several times from his crib and suffered injuries, according to the Laredo Morning Times.

The LMC staff medical accessment of baby Tello injuries in court documents indicated that baby Tello suffered from bruises in his torso, forehead, an abrasion under his chin and trauma to his anus. CT scans done by the LMC staff also indicated that baby Tello suffered from posterior 10th and 11th rib fractures, including a large amount of fluid in his stomach causing abdominal swelling.

Priscilla Villarreal, known as "Lagordiloca", a local alternative news reporter on Facebook (FB) in Laredo who was just released from the hospital after suffering from the Coronavirus (not COVID-19) and spending at least five days at a local hospital for treatment posted a video of baby Tello and his parents. Lagordiloca while in tears about hearing of baby Tello's death vowed to seek justice of Justin. According to Lagordiloca FB post, she received a video and information from the extended family of baby Tello from Nuevo Laredo. The information indicated that baby Tello's sister had witnessed her father strike the baby multiple times in the stomach when he was just 2-months-old.

Lagordiloca FB post, "Baby Justin Tello age 9months died in a San Antonio hospital of his injuries. CPS gave the child back to his parents after having taken him away from his safe place with his siblings in Nuevo Laredo. This child has been suffering under his parents care since he was born, sister of the child states she saw her father beat the child on the stomach at the age of 2 months and yet no one did anything to save this child!
CPS failed him! The system failed him!! The police department failed him! The DA failed him!! We want answer and they need to be charged with MURDER!!! Where is the justice for Baby Justin!!"
