Milwaukee, WI - On Tuesday, the body of John P. Moebs, 33, was recovered by police in Lake Michigan, according to Milwaukee police. Moebs Missing Facebook page posted that both Milwaukee and West Milwaukee police had confirmed that Moebs body was found.
Moebs went missing on May 3, around 3:30 a.m. shortly after texting his girlfriend that he was on his way home and that he believed he had just broken his nose.
Moebs was last seen at the Brothers Bar and Grill on Water Street, according to police.
A body was recovered from Lake Michigan just after 8:00 a.m. On Tuesday and was taken to the Milwaukee Medical Examiner's Office to get a dental record check to determine, if it was Moebs. Moebs' ID was found on the body, police confirmed.
In the last three years, at least four male bodies have been recovered from the Milwaukee River. Several of those missing had disappeared from the Water Street night club scene. Only males have been reported missing and later recovered from the Milwaukee River.
Several other bodies have been also recovered after accidental drownings in the river.
Some Milwaukeeans suspect a serial murderer is targeting intoxicated people in the Water Street bar scene and are calling for police and city officials to step up foot patrols and place surveillance cameras along the river. Police have not confirmed or connected any of the drownings of prior missing victims to a serial killer, but all of the victims were males allegedly intoxicated when they went missing.
One male victim was reported missing from the Milwaukee downtown area and never found.
