Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico - On Thursday, Mexican authorities were called to El Pacífico Crematorium after neighbors complained of foul odor from the one floor building. At least 61 bodies including three females were discovered mummified or decomposing, according to authorities.
Body parts were also recovered and were taken to the forensic and death investigating unit in Guerrero. Most of the bodies were nude, but some were wearing blue jeans, t-shirts and the females were wearing dresses.
Some bodies were wrapped in white sheets and covered with calcium powder to limit foul odor, both El Sur and EFE reported.
Authorities sealed the crematorium around 1:00 a.m. on Friday after all the bodies were removed. The Pacífico crematorium had been abandoned for about a year, according to Mexican authorities.
In September 26 and 27, 43 Ayotzinapa students disappeared from Iguala and were presumed tortured, killed and burned at the Cocula city dump. The parents of the students say, that the Mexican military in Iguala, Federal Police, state police, including municipal police from Iguala and Cocula were involved in the mass murder of students along with the Guerreros Unidos, a criminal organization. At least 99 suspects including the mayors from Iguala and Cocula along with municipal police have been arrested in connection with the missing Ayotzinapa students case.
