Milwaukee, WI - On Thursday, the Milwaukee Public School Board (MPS) voted to approve a Department of Black and Latino males, according to the Board meeting. The MPS Board failed to act on an amendment by Board Member Tony Baez to create a Department that would create a positive high visibility narrative for prominence of bilingualism and multicultural, which Baez also addressed the lack of Latinos in the leadership structure when the Board proposed the reorganization of the Central Services budget. The Board did approved a substitute amendment to Baez' budget proposal that will require a "Board Work Session" in September. Student parents, community members, teachers and other educators during the summer months will have an opportunity in meetings to provide input and address Baez' concerns of the issue raised at the Board meeting.
The Milwaukee School Board also failed to pass a pay raise for those earning less than $80,000 annual salary, which Education Assistants and Paraprofessionals who make around $18,000 annually, despite having an Associate Degree would not get a pay raise, thus continue to earn a poverty wage.

Illegal Anti-sanctuary Bill Introduced In Committee By GOP State Senators And Representatives

Anti-sanctuary state bill introduced in committee by Republican state senators and representatives who are deemed anti-immigrant.

By H. Nelson Goodson

May 26, 2017

Madison, WI - On Thursday, the Wisconsin state Senate Republicans and co-sponsors that include GOP State Representatives introduced an illegal anti-sanctuary bill and it was referred to the Committee on Labor and Regulatory Reform. It seems that state legislators want their cake and eat it too.
What state legislators don't want you know is that Wisconsin has a $6 billion dollar trade deal with Mexico and it is enriching some of Wisconsin's White majority of business owners, large corporations and agricultural farmers. State GOP legislators favor the economic flow from Mexico, but they don't favor Mexico's undocumented immigrant community in the state. Shame on you GOP legislators.
Mexican nationals in Wisconsin should petition for Mexico to suspend the $6B dollar trade deal until Wisconsin GOP legislators and Governor Scott Walker (R) actually treat the Mexican national population in the state with more respect and welcome their economic contribution as well. To begin, allow Mexican nationals to legally drive in state roads by providing driving permits or licenses among other needs as well.
The following bill, if passed and challenged in a federal court will no doubt be declared unconstitutional, simply because a state can not forced state or county employees to enforce federal immigration laws, legislators also can't withhold state share revenue funding as a penalty for refusing to enforce immigration laws reserved for the feds and it requires county and state law enforcement agencies to accept Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) administrative detainers, which have been ruled illegal by a federal court, only a signed warrant by a court judge is considered legal.

2017 SENATE BILL 275

May 25, 2017 - Introduced by Senators NASS, STROEBEL, CRAIG and VUKMIR,
cosponsored by Representatives SPIROS, KREMER, E. BROOKS, EDMING, GANNON, JACQUE, MURSAU, NEYLON, QUINN, SKOWRONSKI, TUSLER, WEATHERSTON and HUTTON. Referred to Committee on Labor and Regulatory Reform.

AN ACT to create 66.0414 of the statutes; relating to: prohibiting local ordinances, resolutions, and policies that prohibit the enforcement of federal or state law relating to illegal aliens or immigration status, authorizing certain elective officeholders to commence an enforcement action, providing a reduction in shared revenue payments, and creating governmental liability for damages caused by illegal aliens. Bill link:  http://bit.ly/2qk37ZL

Editor's note: It is well known that anti-immigrant GOP federal and state legislators have been influenced by the Koch brothers to initiate and push bills against sanctuary cities and support mass deportations of undocumented immigrants. Also, the LIBRE Initiative by Americans for Prosperity Foundation (APF) is funded and connected to the Koch brothers, which is considered an alt-right organization attempting to plant their seed in the Milwaukee Southside Latino community.
What APF doesn't want Latinos to know is that it is actually funded by the alt-right Koch brothers who oppose immigration reform amd advocate to repeal ACA (Obamacare).
In 2015, State Representative JoCasta Zamarripa (D-Milw) released a statement about LIBRE, "The LIBRE Initiative is an ultra-conservative organization funded by out of state billionaires Charles and David Koch that seeks to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, halt increases in the federal minimum wage, fund anti-immigrant Republican politicians, and support voter photo ID laws that aim to further disenfranchise Latino communities.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Saturday, Raoul G. Deal, a community artist and students from ArtWorks for Milwaukee unveiled their historic United Migrant Opportunity Services (UMOS) mural at the Butters-Fetting Co. building wall facing W. Historic Mitchell St. and S. 1st Street. The mural took about 1 year and 6 months to finish, according to Deal.
The theme of the mural included the Wautoma marches for migrant rights, the UMOS social service agency advocacy for social justice, higher education, civil rights and struggle including protests to change the discriminatory hiring practices by the local breweries and the foundry jobs that attracted the Latino work force to the city.
Seven members of the Latino community were included in the mural, Jesús Salas, the first former executive director of UMOS and one of the key leaders of the educational and Latino civil rights movement in the 1960's and 1970's; Ernesto Chacon, the executive director for Latin American Union for Civil Rights; Roberto Hernández, an instrumental leader in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Chapman Hall takerover on August 27, 1970 that led to breaking down the barrier of a discriminatory policy that kept Hispanics from enrolling at the university; Graciela de la Cruz, a UWM student in 1970 who later became a teacher in the Milwaukee Public Schools; Dante Navarro, the first Latino candidate to run for public office in Milwaukee, created the first LULAC council in Milwaukee and was a Spanish language radio host as well and Marla O. Anderson, an instrumental leader of the UWM takeover as well. Anderson's decision to join Salas and Chacon in 1970 led to the active participation of hundreds of families to back, join and march in support of the UWM takeover to gain access to higher education for Latinos and their children. Anderson later graduated from the School of Education at UWM with a Bachelor of Science degree in May 1978.
Salas, Hernández and De la Cruz were students at UWM of only 14 Latinos attending compared to 25,000 Whites students enrolled in 1970. Navarro, Anderson and Salas were among those that included Gregorio "Goyo" Rivera and José Luis Huerta-Sánchez who were arrested at the UWM chancellor's office at Chapman Hall on August 27, 1970 for refusing to leave his office. Also Lupe Martinez, the current UMOS President and CEO who has 47 years of service at the non-profit agency was featured in the mural too.
The UMOS mural depicts just a small piece of the Latino community historical activism roots that influenced change to better the quality of life for Hispanics in the city of Milwaukee and state for decades to follow.

Jesús Salas explained the meaning of the mural. Salas is a former executive director of UMOS and one of the key leaders of the 1960's and 1970's educational and civil rights movement in Milwaukee, WI. http://youtu.be/TR7FaBV6dwQ

May 17, 2017

Milwaukee, WI - On Wednesday, Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke Jr. announced during a conservative radio talk show with Viki McKenna on WISN 1130 AM, that he will accept an assistant secretary position in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) next month. Clarke will join the Office of Partnership and Engagement at the DHS.
What does it mean for Milwaukee County? Sheriff Clarke's acceptance of the position will no doubt void the 287g ICE enforcement agreement request by Clarke and it will no longer be applied at the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office in Wisconsin.
It seems that Sheriff Clarke jumped the gun and unofficially confirmed that he accepted the position with DHS, but the DHS sent out a tweet that "Sr. positions are announced when made official by the Sec. No such announcement w/regard to the Office of Public Engagement has been made."
Governor Scott Walker (R) can appoint another replacement for Sheriff Clarke.
Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) first Tweeted on March 22, that Sheriff Clarke was expected to resign from his position when it was learned from a credible source that Clarke would actually resign.
Currently, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office has reported multiple inmate deaths and one of them, Terrill Thomas had his water turned off in his cell and he died from the lack of drinking water.
At least seven Milwaukee County Correction officers are facing criminal charges by the district attorney's office after a grand jury recommended charges.
The seven county officials who may now face charges in connection with the Thomas death by withholding water for seven days are Milwaukee County jail commander Major Nancy Evans, Lt. Kashka Meadors and corrections officers Jordon Johnson, Thomas Laine, James Ramsey-Guy, John Weber and Dominique Smith.

Boycott Harley-Davidson Corporation, They Openly Support Trump

The season of riding free on your Harley-Davidson began with the first H-D Museum Bike Night event in Milwaukee on Thursday, but a boycott is on against the H-D Corporation for openly supporting the bad hombre, Trump.

By H. Nelson Goodson
Hispanic News Network U.S.A.

May 11, 2017

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - A national boycott has been called against the Harley-Davidson Corporation (H-D) for openly supporting the bad hombre, Trump. This year, President Trump was scheduled to visit the H-D Corporate, but cancelled after thousands of Wisconsin residents threaten to protest at the H-D factory where Trump was scheduled to visit. So, the H-D Corporate officials went to the White House instead with motorcycles and openly supported the bad hombre, Trump who is attempting to repeal ObamaCare, is anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim, doesn't respect women and definitely doesn't show any favorable action towards people of color.
There are 100's of thousands of male bikers and female bikers who ride an H-D motorcycle, but most were purchased before the H-D Corporate officials made the decision to support and back Trump. Well it was their choice to stand with Trump, despite public opinion to boycott all of Trump name products and etc.
So, lets show the H-D Corporation that as long as they stand with Trump, we as bikers of color will stand with the people and flex our trillion dollar purchasing power as Latinos and will not buy their products or attend any H-D funded event.
On Thursday, the H-D Museum held its first bike night set and displayed a defaced U.S. flag, which no doubt many will consider the act disrespectful.
Apparently, the H-D Corporation officials have become victims of their own ignorance. Boycott Harley-Davidson 2017!

Alt-right Group Advisory Board Responsible For Hate Outdoor Ad In Milwaukee's Latino Community

An alt-right group registered as sheriffclarkeforsenate dot com is behind a hate and racist outdoor ad placed on a LAMAR billboard targeted at the Milwaukee Southside Latino community.

By H. Nelson Goodson
Hispanic News Network U.S.A.

May 10, 2017

Milwaukee, WI - Hispanic News Network U.S.A. has learned that an alleged alt-right group registered as sheriffclarkeforsenate dot com authorized what many members of the Milwaukee Southside Latino community believe is an outdoor ad that promotes hate towards immigrants and division in the City of Milwaukee. According the sheriffclarkeforsenate dot com website, the group is based in N. Carolina and is headed by Jack Daley, which the political committee is registered with the Federal Election Commission as a Political Action Committee (PAC) and a Draft Committee attempting to persuade Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke Jr. to run for the U.S. Senate against U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin, a Democrat in November of 2018.
The PAC sheriffclarkeforsenate dot com committee advisory board also includes, Duane Chapman, Robert Davi, Nathanael Pendley, Cody Stanton, Beth Chapman, Elbert Guillory, Kay Daley and Michael Searcy.
The Clarke draft ad was placed by LAMAR who operates the billboard at the 1600 block of W. Greenfield Ave. and S. César E. Chavez Dr., and it was paid for by the sheriffclarkeforsenate dot com committee.
Members of the Milwaukee Latino community also believe that the sheriffclarkeforsenate dot com is just a front for the movement of White nationalists and their affiliated allies who promote hate and division among communities of color and in this case the Latino community in Milwaukee.
A community boycott has been initiated against LAMAR for promoting hate and division in the city for profit and word about the boycott is spreading across Milwaukee. LAMAR administrators in Milwaukee have been contacted via email about the outdoor hate ad and so far, there has been no response.
The ad appears that it is only a U.S. Senate draft campaign by an anti-immigrant and alt-right group connected to the GOP who has raised funds to attempt to persuade Sheriff Clarke to run for the U.S. Senate.
The alt-right group ad includes the phrase "He Protects Citizens...not Alien Criminals" are they trying to indicate that UFO aliens are committing crimes in Milwaukee too?
So Sheriff Clarke, according to the alt-right group sponsoring the ad believes that undocumented immigrants shouldn't be protected by Clarke, which by federal law and Constitutional rights are actually protected and includes due process as well whether they are U.S. Citizens or not.
The seems that the alt-right group lacks any knowledge of what the U.S. Constitution stands for, means and who it protects including Civil Rights. The PAC has a several attorneys in the advisory board, but they might not understand that even undocumented imigrants have rights and are afforded due process of the law as well.
Currently, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office is under investigation for the homicide of Terrill Thomas who died of thirst after his was denied water for seven days. Recently, a Milwaukee County inquest jury found that seven county officials may now face criminal charges in connection with Thomas death for withholding water are Milwaukee County jail commander Major Nancy Evans, Lt. Kashka Meadors and corrections officers Jordon Johnson, Thomas Laine, James Ramsey-Guy, John Weber and Dominique Smith. Milwaukee County District Attorney John T. Chisholm will now determine whether to file criminal charges against the seven county officials. Also, Milwaukee County Corrections Captain George Gold resigned during an inquest to the dehydration death of Thomas at the Milwaukee County jail. Gold's name was not included in the inquest jury list for criminal charges, but Gold is being investigated, if he had any connection to the case as well.
Clarke had attempted to keep multiple inmate deaths at the jail quiet under internal investigations until the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the deaths. Clarke criticized the medical examiner for informing the public of the pending death investigations by the sheriff's office.
Sheriff Clarke is expected to resign at any day to take a position as assistant secretary in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Office of Partnership and Engagement in Trump's regime, according to Politico.

Mexican Military Killed Unarmed Man In Cold Blood In Palmarito Tochapan

The Mexican military version of what happened on May 3 in Palmarito Tochapan was false, according to El Diario Cambio who released a video version of what actually occurred.

May 10, 2017

Palmarito, Tochapan, México - On Wednesday, el Diario Cambio released a security video, which contradicts the Mexican military version of what had occurred on May 3 where 11 military personnel were reported injured, 4 soldiers were killed and 6 civilians were also killed during a three hour gun battle by unknown attackers. The military version of the incident says, that a military unit came under fire just after 8:00 p.m. by unknown assailants who used women and children as human shilelds.
The military was called to investigate an incident where gasoline was stolen by unknown suspects.
The released video by El Diario Cambio showed a different version of the incident where three unarmed men in a vehicle were fired upon by the military and then one of the victims who was wounded, was dragged and while face down on the ground bleeding, a Mexican soldier shot him in the back of the head while other soldiers looked on.
The cold blooded killing of the male victim has drawn concern in the area where the incident occurred that the Mexican military is corrupt and committing murder of innocent people.
The Mexican government hasn't come forward yet to address the brutal cold blooded murder of the victim in Palmarito.

Amanda Vanetta Threatened Operators Of Berta's Taco Truck For Displaying Upside Down U.S. Flag

Vanetta exercised her own ignorance to threaten the operators of Berta's taco truck for displaying a U.S. flag upside down on S. César E. Chavez Drive.

May 8, 2017

Milwaukee, WI - On Monday, Amanda Vanetta, posted on her Facebook account that she spotted a Berta's taco truck with a U.S. flag upside down and resorted to threaten the operator of the fast food truck by saying that it was illegal and if they wouldn't remove it or fix it up right that she would take it down.
Apparently, Vanetta who video recorded the incident herself doesn't know by her own ignorance that it is the not illegal to display the U.S. flag upside down and by attempting to remove it, she is committing an illegal act herself. An upside-down U.S. flag means distress.
The incident happened at the 1000 block of S. César E. Chavez Drive in Milwaukee, WI.
With in minutes of posting her video in Facebook (FB) as an attempt to attack the Berta's taco truck operators, Vanetta became the laughing stock in the Milwaukee area and comments flooded on her posting criticising her and most were making fun of her ignorance. Vanetta became the victim of her own ignorance and deleted her video posting as FB users began to post her debts found in the court system as well. The FB crowd became so fierce, that Vanetta had to delete her post.
She even changed her FB name to Panda Manda.

Amanda Vanetta's video of incident: https://youtu.be/rtqMb45HwQg

Update: Javier Reyes, the owner of Berta's Tamales and Taco truck in Milwaukee contacted Hispanic News Network U.S.A. on Tuesday and stated that he was replacing the U.S. flag for its old age and while doing it he unintentionally placed it upside down without realizing it. Reyes said, that it was an unfortunate mistake on his part and didn't want to offend anyone. He also says, that he is so grateful for all the support he has received from the public and Facebook users.

Most of the victims were among 1,500 people struggling to enact an eight-hour work day to coincide with the national movement in 1886. A memorial to commemorate them and seven trees were planted in their recognition at E. Russell Ave. and S. Superior St. in Bay View, but the seven victims names were never added and were only identified as "people." H. Nelson Goodson from the Milwaukee Southside neighborhood attended the 131st Anniversary of the tragic event and noticed that the names of the victims were not included in the erected memorial, but their names were only mentioned during the re-enactment of the massacre. When most to the public elected officials, including Wisconsin State Senator Chris Larson (D), State Representatives Christine Sinicki (D), Jonathan Brostoff (D), Daniel Riemer (D) and Fred P. Kessler (D), Milwaukee Alderman T. Anthony Zielinski, Milwaukee County Supervisor Marina Dimitrijevic and others were called and invited to come up front to be recognized by those attending, Goodson took the opportunity to asked when will all of the public elected officials and those sponsoring the event will come together to add the names of the seven victims to the current memorial? They all agreed including the public attending that it was a good idea to do so and the sponsor of the event will work to make sure the victim's names, Frank Kunkel, Frank Nowarczyk, John Marsh, Robert Erdman, Johann Zazka, Martin Jankowiak, and Michael Ruchalski will be added to the memorial. Bay View, Wisconsin - On Sunday, May 7, Luz Sosa, the union Vice President of the American Federation of Teachers in Wisconsin and Community Organizer for Acción Ciudadana de Wisconsin will be the invited keynote speaker at the Bay View re-enactment of the 131st Anniversary of the May 5, 1886 Wisconsin State militia massacre of seven unarmed labor workers, Frank Kunkel, Frank Nowarczyk, John Marsh, Robert Erdman, Johann Zazka, Martin Jankowiak, and Michael Ruchalski near the Bay View Rolling Mills manufacturing company. The ceremony is open to the public and Sosa will be speaking around 3:00 p.m. at the historical marker located at the corner of E. Russell Ave. and S. Superior St. in Bay View.
A public and labor workers march will assemble at 1:30 p.m. at the corner of S. Bay St. and E. Lincoln Ave., then it will proceed at 2:00 p.m. to the historical marker location. Music will be provided as well. The event is sponsored by the Wisconsin Labor Historical Society (WLHS).
History in brief: According to the WLHS, Wisconsin's most historic and bloody labor incident occurred on May 5, 1886 on the shores of Lake Michigan in the Bay View area of Milwaukee. That day dawned after four days of massive worker demonstrations throughout Milwaukee on behalf of the creation of eight-hour day laws. Milwaukee was part of the national movement to create an eight-hour work day.
As some 1,500 workers marched toward the Bay View Rolling Mills (then the area's biggest manufacturer) urging the workers there to join the march, the State Militia lined up on a hill with guns poised.  The marchers were ordered to stop form some 200 yards away; when they didn't, the militiamen fired into the crowd, killing seven unarmed workers.
The marchers dispersed and the eight-hour days marches ended. The incident, in spite of its immediate end to eight-hour day efforts, spurred workers and their families to look forward to build a more progressive society in Milwaukee and Wisconsin.
Eventually, the eight-hour work day in the U.S. was later achieved.

Update: Luz Sosa's speech at the Bay View 131st Anniversary of the massacre of 7 workers by the state militia on May 5, 1886. Most of the workers killed were among 1,500 people struggling to enact an eight-hour work day. https://youtu.be/McAMLoXA0xw

Billboard Hate Ad By LAMAR And Alt-right Group Targeted At Latino Community Draws Controversy

LAMAR advertising billboard company promotes hate towards the Hispanic community with alt-right propaganda

Milw., WI - Controversial Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke Jr. billboard ad appears in Milwaukee's Southside, in the heart of the Hispanic community at the 1600 block of W. Greenfield Ave. and S. César E. Chavez Dr. It appears that it is only a U.S. Senate draft campaign by an anti-immigrant and alt-right White nationalist group who has raised funds to attempt to persuade Sheriff Clarke to run for the U.S. Senate.
The alt-right White nationalist ad includes the phrase "He Protects Citizens...not Alien Criminals" are they trying to indicate that UFO aliens are committing crimes in Milwaukee too?
So Sheriff Clarke, according to the White nationalist group sponsoring the ad believes that undocumented immigrants shouldn't be protected by Clarke, which by federal law and Constitutional rights are actually protected and includes due process as well whether they are U.S. Citizens or not.
The White nationalist group lacks any knowledge of what the U.S. Constitution stands for, means and who it protects including Civil Rights.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office is under investigation for the homicide of Terrill Thomas who died of thirst after he was denied water for seven days.
On Friday, Hispanic News Network U.S.A. contacted LAMAR executives and staff via e-mail concerning the controversial ad and a request to remove it due to its racist content that targets the Latino immigrant community and promotes hate. None of the LAMAR executives or staff responded, but will update once they do decide to deal with the matter. It seems LAMAR executives are putting profits first instead of condemning such advertising content and lack of sensitivity toward a large immigrant segment of the Milwaukee population.

Editors note:

The Latino community shouldn't allow this type of self hate promoting ads to be placed in their neighborhoods. The Hispanic community and allies should boycott LAMAR for accountability.

Milwaukee, WI - On Monday, thousands of participants marched regardless of slight rain showers from the Southside of Milwaukee to the Milwaukee County Courthouse in downtown seeking support from Governor Scott Walker (R) to remove Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke Jr. from office. Sheriff Clarke requested to join the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) 287g program, which allows for deputies to ask for legal status from suspected undocumented immigrants.
Governor Walker has said, that it is not his job to remove Clarke. Sheriff Clarke was elected to office and has not been charged for any wrongdoing or convicted of a felony.
Voces de la Frontera an immigrant and workers rights organization sponsored the march. Last February, more than 165 local and statewide Latino businesses closed for one day during an immigrant march and an estimated  $1.3M of business loss was endured by the owners. If the same Latino businesses closed once again this time around, it is estimated that the Latino business owners faced another $1.3M loss as well, totalling at least $2.6M in business loss, within less than four months.
At the rally in the Milwaukee County Court House, Christine Neumann-Ortiz, the executive director of Voces de la Frontera (VDLF) announced that VDLF will join the national boycott of Wells Fargo and Chase Banks who are the largest financial bank institutions for the private prison corporations.
This year, Acción Ciudadana de Wisconsin (ACW) also participated in the immigrant march and many business owners who are members also closed their businesses in support of the immigrant community, according to Luz Sosa, the Community Organizer for ACW.
