Wisconsin Sanctuary Proposed Bill Released And Bipartisan Legislative Co-sponsors Sought

A Sanctuary proposed bill by State Legislature Democrats was released, and it prohibits local county sheriffs and other law enforcement agencies in the state from collaborating and working with U.S. ICE.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Tuesday, State Senator Chris Larson (D), State Assembly Representative Jonathan Brostoff (D) and State Representative Marisabel Cabrera (D), the lead authors of the proposed Sanctuary Bill along with other groups and allies held a press conference at City Hall in Milwaukee to announce the proposed Sanctuary Bill, which would prohibit or limit any collaboration between local law enforcement agencies including county sheriffs and ICE, and a second bill would prohibit private prisons in Wisconsin. According to one of the co-authors of the newly proposed Sanctuary Bill, it would also prohibit the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which is the primary law enforcement agency and investigate arm for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department (WCSD) MOA with ICE expired in June 30 and the WCSD is in the process of renewing the MOA agreement. The 287g allows trained county sheriff deputies or county sheriff's corrections staff to act like immigration enforcement agents when processing inmates.
In the last seven months, Governor Tony Evers (D) hasn't addressed the issue with the 287g MOA in Waukesha County.
When contacted on Wednesday and asked if the Sanctuary Bill would prohibit 287g in the state, State Representative Brostoff stated, "...my understanding is that they would actually be covered by the language of the bill as written...By using broader categorical language it also covers and preempts other potential issues that go beyond 287g as well." The Sanctuary Bill also allows for the DOJ to provide a policy of limited authority for local law enforcement agencies under the bill.

$2M Lawsuit Filed By Waukegan School District 60 Attorney Representing Superintendent Theresa A. Plascencia And School Board President Michael Rodriguez Against Margaret Carrasco Dismissed

The plaintiffs, Plascencia, Rodriguez and the attorney for Waukegan School District #60 failed to appear in court and the defamation lawsuit case filed on December 27, 2018 against Margaret Carrasco was dismissed by default.

July 23, 2019

Waukegan, Illinois - On Tuesday, a Lake County judge dismissed a $2M dollar defamation lawsuit case (# 18L 00000986) filed against Margaret Carrasco by an attorney representing Superintendent Theresa A. Plascencia, Waukegan School District 60 Board President Michael Rodriguez and district school attorney Tom Morris. In the lawsuit, the plaintiffs claimed that Carrasco engaged in a "...campaign of harassing Facebook posts..
" that included defaming, harassing and causing emotional stress for the plaintiffs and that Carrasco also accused the district school administration of corruption. Carrasco led a successful campaign to stop the school board from increasing property taxes and accused Plascencia in November 2018 of filing a false police report against her, which later turned out that Plascencia couldn't prove she was verbally harassed or threatened by Carrasco at a local Mexican restaurant in Waukegan. Restaurant video footage of the alleged incident between Plascencia and Carrasco failed to show that Carrasco ever confronted and harrassed Plascencia. Carrasco pushed for the Waukegan Police Department to file charges against Plascencia for filing a false police report, but police never filed charges. Plascencia also filed a restraining order in Lake County against Carrasco, but the restraining order was not granted.
The Waukegan School Board District 60 in June 2018 approved $30,000 to retain a law firm to represent the plaintiffs in the lawsuit. Carrasco says, the lawsuit was an attempt to silence her and from bringing up school issues at Board meetings. Carrasco represented herself in the lawsuit.
Carrasco on Tuesday told Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) that she thanks everyone and is very grateful for the Waukegan community who supported her during this unfortunate act by Plascencia, district school administrators and the school Board in filing a frivolous lawsuit with taxpayers funds in an attempt to silence her from raising and addressing school issues affecting taxpayers.

Milwaukee, WI - An impromptu Solidarity Rally with Puerto Rico (SRPR) is planned by local organizers who decided to join a major shutdown of businesses, schools and etc. on Monday in the Island, if Governor Ricardo Rosselló fails to resign from office at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. The SRPR will be held at the Milwaukee downtown Red Arrow Park, 920 N. Water Street starting at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, according to information circulating on Facebook.
Governor Rosselló announced that he resigned as president of the political party the Partido Nuevo Progressita (New Progressive Party) and confirmed that he won't run for re-election. But, thousands of protesters in Puerto Rico gave him an ultimatum to resign by Sunday before midnight or face major shutdowns in the island on Monday, so far Rosselló has not resigned.
Rosselló faced a major corruption scandal and conversations in a private chat between his confidants were leaked out showing him and others degrading his rivals and the Puerto Rican population for their low economic status due to several hurricane disasters that left the island devastated and slow FEMA aid for recovery under the Trump administration.

Update: On Monday, Hundreds gathered at Red Arrow Park in Milwaukee's downtown to call on Puerto Rico's Governor Ricardo Roselló to resign amid a corruption scandal.

City Orders La Luz Del Mundo Religious Group In Milwaukee To Remove Huge Banners From Buildings That Violate Size Banner Ordinance

Several banners displayed on several buildings owned by the religious group La Luz Del Mundo apparently violate City ordinance that limit the size of banners to 25 square feet.

July 18, 2019

Milwaukee. WI - Religious group ordered by City of Milwaukee Neighborhood Services to remove several huge banners for oversize violation, which depicts their leader Naasón Joaquín García. The banners with his face will remain until the end of July and will be replaced with smaller banners due to City ordinance violation for having prohibited huge banners that exceed the 25 foot limit in front of a building on S. Cesar E. Chavez Dr. The city ordered the church administrators to remove the huge banners or face fines from $150 up to $10K per day after the City inspected the banners on July 11. The City recently received complaints by neighborhood residents about the huge banners after its leader Garcia was charged with multiple child sex crimes,  human trafficking and child  pornography.
A huge banner adorns La Luz del Mundo church at the 1300 block of S. Cesar E. Chavez Dr. and second banner is placed at another building facing the 1500 block of W. Greenfield Ave.
According to the criminal complaint filed with the Los Angeles County Superior Court, the California Department of Justice alleges Joaquín García and his co-defendants committed 26 felonies in Southern California over a period of approximately four years.
Earlier this week, Los Angeles County Magistrate David Fields denied bail for García, the leader of La Luz Del Mundo who previously had a $50M bail. Garcia is considered a flight risk and authorities found thousands of child pornography images in his cell phone, which investigators say that he is obsessed with child pornography. Garcia's accomplices: Alondra Ocampo bail was set at $25M, Susana Medina Oaxaca was set free after posting $150K bail and Azalea Rangel Melendez is still at large and is wanted on a felony warrant in California. The defendants are scheduled to return to a court hearing on August 2, 2019.

Voces de la Frontera Hypocrisy: VDLF Endorsed Aldermanic Candidate Getting Chris Abele's Leadership MKE Campaign Advertising

Voces de la Frontera Action is being criticized for their hypocrisy for endorsing a candidate in the 13th Aldermanic District who is receiving Abele's  Leardership MKE campaign advertising, when in 2018, Voces campaigned against another candidate for county supervisor that was receiving unsolicited advertising from the Leadership MKE.

By H. Nelson Goodson
Hispanic News Network U.S.A.

July 16, 2019

Milwaukee, WI - It seems that Voces de la Frontera Action (VDLF4) 501c(4) is operating on double standards. In 2018, VDLF4 campaigned against Milwaukee County Supervisor candidate Sylvia Ortiz-Velez in the 12th District for getting unsolicited campaign advertising from Leadership MKE, a PAC associated with Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele. Ortiz-Velez was elected to the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors. Today, VDLF4 endorsed Patricia Torres Najera, who is a candidate for Alderwoman in the 13th District in the City of Milwaukee. Leadership MKE has spent more than $24K of unsolicited campaign advertising to elect Najera and VDLF4 is very aware of Abele's influence in the special election on Tuesday, July 16. So why did VDLF4 opposed Ortiz-Velez for getting unsolicited Leadership MKE campaign advertising and today endorsed Najera, despite getting unsolicited Leadership MKE campaign advertising? It's obvious, VDLF4 is controlled by White liberals who pick their own candidates that they can manipulate for their own special interests and not the Latino community's interests.
Najera has been the Chair of the City Plan Commission for a decade and was instrumental in passing the Near Southside Comprehensive Development Area Plan in 2009 that has led to gentrification and the displacing of Hispanics in the Southside predominantly Latino community in the 12th and 8th Aldermanic Districts. Najera is credited for helping to bring development in the district where Latinos reside igniting Hispanic flight to surrounding suburbs due to an increase of development attracting the middle class White population to the area and renting expensive lofts.
Also Najera attended Chris Abele's re-election kick-off campaign for County Executive in Milwaukee.

Waukegan Mayor Sam Cunningham In Illinois Facing Criminal Investigation For Sexual Assault And Harassment

Victim filed a sexual assault complaint with the Lake County State's Attorney's Office and the Illinois State Police because the Waukegan Police Department wouldn't take it when she approached an officer on duty twice at the front desk, according to the victim.

By H. Nelson Goodson
Hispanic News Network U.S.A.

July 16. 2019

Waukegan, Illinois- On Tuesday, the Lake County State's Attorney's Office in Illinois confirmed that they had received a sexual assault complaint and forwarded it to the Lake County Sheriff's Department and the Illinois State Police to investigate the complaint filed by Margaret Carrasco, a well known local community activist and immigrant rights advocate alleging that she was sexually assaulted by Waukegan Mayor Sam Cunningham on Saturday, July 13, 2019, as she was leaving the City of Waukegan Scoop event. According to the sexual assault complaint, Carrasco claims, as she was driving away from the Scoop event with her husband, Tomas, who was the passenger in her vehicle, that Mayor Cunningham ran in front of her vehicle and she had to stop in order to avoid hitting him. Cunningham apparently then went to the driver's side window and began to talk to Carrasco about the success of the event and called for a nearby photographer to take a photo of both of them. Cunningham reached inside the vehicle to grab Carrasco in order to force her to get close to him and then said, "I gotta kiss you", while her husband looked on.
"Cunningham called Kenneth Smith over again saying, "You gotta get this shot - I need this shot". Cunningham gave me a quick kiss on the cheek and then I speeded off in my car"...Mayor Sam Cunningham publicly sexual harrassed me and assaulted me by his unwanted touching, kissing and grabbing me...He thinks just because he is Mayor, he can forcibly touch, kiss and grab any female," according to Carrasco's complaint.
Carrasco says that she went to the Waukegan Police Department to file a complaint twice and the officer at the front desk just walked away and never returned. Carrasco was left with no choice, but to sent and file her complaint with the Lake County State's Attorney's Office via e-mail and Cc, Waukegan Police Chief Wayne Walles who later accepted the complaint via e-mail and filed it.
Carrasco had recently requested publicly for Mayor Cunningham to make it public where he stood on Trump's mass ICE raids and if he would prohibit local police from assisting ICE in Waukegan, just like the Mayor of Chicago prohibited police to assist ICE in local raids. Cunningham never responded to Carrasco.
Carrasco did learned and exposed that the Waukegan Police Department (WPD) had assigned Officer Monty Hall to assist the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in detaining and processing undocumented residents under a fedral grant funding (loop hole), which according to the ICE website, there are no State of Illinois law enforcement agencies or county sheriff departments in partnership with ICE under the profiling and discriminatory 287(g) Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) ICE program, which allows certain trained police officers and sheriff deputies under ICE supervision to enforce federal immigration laws.
Officer Hall later resigned after it became public that the WPD had an officer assisting ICE in detaining undocumented residents. So far, the WPD hasn't replaced Hall with another officer to assist ICE and the WPD hasn't released any information to residents, which federal funding authorized an officer to assist ICE.
By police and sheriff departments having a 287(g) partnership with ICE, it creates a public safety issue in communities simply because undocumented residents won't report crimes or become witnesses of a crime for fear of being detained and deporte

Update (7/20/2019): HNNUSA has learned that Waukegan Police Chief Wayne Walles in an unprecedented act has sealed the Carrasco's complaint. According to Chief Walles, the Waukegan Police Department will not handle the Margaret Carrasco's sexual assault complaint investigation, "Since it is being sent to another agency it was locked,  In order to not compromise the investigation precautions were taken."

Governor Tony Evers Has Been In Office For Nearly Seven Months And So Far Has Been Avoiding Executive Action To Eliminate The Discriminatory And Profiling 287(g) Against Latinos In Wisconsin

The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department is attempting to renew its 287(g) agreement with ICE after it expired June 30 and Governor Evers has yet to act to stop its operation in the state.

By H. Nelson Goodson
Hispanic News Network U.S.A.

July 12, 2019

Madison, WI - As of Friday, Governor Tony Evers (D) hasn't served the Latino electors who were instrumental in electing him as Governor. Evers has failed to eliminate the 287(g) ICE agreement with the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department (WCSD), which expired on June 30th and is being renewed, according to the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department. Governor Evers would have to approved the 287(g) agreement between ICE and the WCSD. The 287(g) agreement allows for the WCSD jail personnel to check the U.S. citizenship of those Latinos suspected of being undocumented who have been taken into custody for any traffic infraction or minor crimes.
The WCSD doesn't check all inmates processed at the jail for U.S. citizenship, but only people of color, according to sources.
Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) contacted the media personnel for Governor Evers for comment, but no response has been released about the future of the 287(g) at the WCSD and state. Evers seems to lack any interest to serve the Latino community that elected him or his close advisors are not doing their job and informing him that the Latino electors want the 287(g) killed in the state, including at the WCSD.
Governor Evers attended a LULAC National Convention and Expo event this week, but failed to mention the 287(g) expiration or his intend to resolve the issue.
So far, it seems Governor Evers has distant himself from the Latino electors, which no doubt will most likely cost him re-election and could be ousted from office just like former Governor Scott Walker (R) who became anti-immigrant.
One thing for sure, Evers seems to be blind and deaf, and is ignoring the Latino community's quest to eliminate 287(g) at the WCSD and state.
Time will tell, if Evers will eventually wake up and actually do the job for what he was elected to do and eliminate the 287(g) ICE program.

Editor's note: LULAC members, Latinos and allies should call the Office of Governor Tony Evers at (608) 266-1212 and tell them/or leave a message that you want Governor Evers to ban 287(g) in the State of Wisconsin and not to approve the 287(g) ICE agreement with the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department that expired on June 30th.

July 10, 2019

Milwaukee, WI - On Wednesday, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) will open their 90th Annual LULAC National Convention and Expo, which includes a three-day free expo for the public in the City of Milwaukee. The four-day event will held at the Wisconsin Center at the 400 block of W. Wisconsin Ave. According to a press release from LULAC, the organization will host a free three-day exposition from Thursday, July 11 to Saturday, July 13. The expo will kick off with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:00am CT on Thursday, July 11. This free event will take place during LULAC's 90th Annual National Convention & Exposition in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from July 10 to 13, 2019.
The expo will feature a Tech Lounge sponsored by AARP as well as free confidential HIV testing by the Sixteenth Street Community Health Center from 10:00 AM  to 5:00 PM CT on July 11, 2019, and July 12, 2019. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will host a booth with HIV resources.
The event is free and open to the public. The expo's career fair will feature job opportunities with corporations, government agencies, colleges, universities, labor unions, the armed services, and non-profit organizations. The career fair is free of charge and provides opportunities for on-site interviews.
Led by LULAC President Domingo Garcia and CEO Sindy Benavides, LULAC's four-day convention will bring together over 20,000 Latino leaders from across the country for seminars and notable events, including a national stage featuring Second Lady of the United States Dr. Jill Biden (2009 – 2017), U.S. Representative Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), U.S. Representative John Delaney, and a Presidential Town Hall with 2020 candidates: Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT); Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA); Julián Castro, former U.S. Secretary of Housing  and Urban Development; and former Representative Beto O'Rourke (D-TX).
Also Garcia, the National President of LULAC on July 4th announced that he is offering a $25,000 dollar reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any U.S. Border Patrol agent or U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) agent that has abused undocumented children, immigrants or refugees at a detention center and ICE facility. LULAC says a published report by ProPublica reveals thousands of border agents are members of a secret group on Facebook that for the past three years has been openly mocking refugees, undermining members of Congress with derogatory, sexually explicit content and even joking about migrants dying.
"I am angry and disgusted by what these agents of Customs and Border Protection who have been dehumanizing the deaths of refugees entrusted into their care," says Domingo Garcia, National President. "Those border agents who stained their badge and uniforms with racist and sexist abuse need to be fired now!" added Garcia.
The report issued by the nonprofit news organization exposed activities involving agents that included calling Latina lawmakers visiting detention facilities in South Texas "scum buckets" and "hoes". Also, ProPublica reports that Border Patrol agents joked about the deaths of refugees, talked about throwing burritos at visiting members of Congress and posted an illustration depicting Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in a sexual act with a migrant detainee.
"This is additional proof that caging children and locking refugees in overcrowded concentration camps is turning what were once decent people into monsters in green, terrorizing women and children," says Garcia. "The actions, revealed in their own Facebook posts, shock our senses because they show how indifferent these agents are to their sworn duties and what little regard or respect they have for human suffering. These agents clearly could care less about the lives of desperate families traveling thousands of miles with just the clothes on their backs trying to reach safety," said Garcia.
LULAC demands that action be taken to get rid of the officers responsible and those who allowed it to happen. "Good, law abiding border patrol and ICE agents should speak out about the abuses and disclose them which is why I am announcing a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest, indictment and conviction of any border patrol or ICE agent who has abused children, migrants or refugees in detention centers and in ICE custody," stated Garcia.
"LULAC is also calling on the United Nations and the American Red Cross to be allowed to send doctors and refugee observers to inspect all immigrant concentration camps within the next seven days. In addition, LULAC is asking that charges be considered by local District Attorneys in counties where these centers are located, to look at bringing indictments of child abuse and neglect against the agents and their commanders who are involved in these criminal activities. LULAC calls on the Border Patrol National Council to encourage its members to help in these investigations, so those agents who serve honorably and in  many cases have even saved lives of refugees do  not see their own reputations tarnished by others in their ranks who fail to uphold the oaths they have taken," he concluded.

Another Power Grab Brewing By Corrupt Wisconsin State Republican Legislators To Restrict Governor Tony Evers Line Item Veto Power

Wisconsin Republican State Senator Craig from the Town of Vernon is introducing a constitutional amendment this month to restrict Governor Evers line item veto power, according to State Senator Carpenter (D).

By H. Nelson Goodson
Hispanic News Network U.S.A.

July 9, 2019

Madison, WI - On Monday, Wisconsin State Senator Tim Carpenter (D-Milw.) released a post on his Facebook account alleging that State Senator Dave Craig (R-Town of Vernon) is introducing a constitutional amendment this month to restrict Governor Tony Evers (D) line item veto powers after Evers partially vetoes 78 Republican state budget items and added $87M in K-12 public school funding aid in his first state budget signed into law. Senator Carpenter posted on Facebook, "WARNING! WI Republicans are once again trying to limit Governor Evers' veto powers in yet another power grab.
Senator Craig is introducing a constitutional amendment to further restrict the Governor's line item veto powers, because Evers did what 70% of voters support.
One of the main reasons Governor Evers won last November's election was he advocated for increased funding for public education.
The GOP drastically cut the Governor's proposed budget for public school aid by about half a billion dollars.
The Governor used his line item veto to creatively increase school aids by $87 million dollars, since Republicans refused to support adequate public education funding.
The GOP is so incensed by the Governor's action, who is doing exactly what voters want!
In yet another power grab the GOP is introducing a constitutional amendment this month to prohibit line item vetoes that increase appropriations in the state budget.
Never mind they didn't even consider such a limits on Governors Walker and Thompson, but now all of a sudden they see the light!
The GOP will pass this constitutional amendment in this fall's session and will vote again on second consideration next session in January 2021. Then they will place the constitutional amendment on the April 2021 election ballot to quickly pass it as a binding referendum. This way Republicans will limit Governor Evers line item veto authority for his next state budget.
It's Republicans Vos and Fitzgerald drunk with power trying to restrict Governor Evers authority in yet another Republican power grab. Absolute power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely!
Speak up and spread the word if you want to stop these power hungry Republicans. Don't let the GOP get away with it this time!"

Waukesha County Sheriff's Office ICE Partnership 287(g) Expired June 30, Governor Tony Evers Hasn't Acted To Ban Such Agreement Since Being Elected

The Waukesha County Sheriff's Office 287(g) ICE partnership agreement expired on June 30 and Governor Evers hasn't acted to ban such agreement, since taking office.

Waukesha, WI -  Governor Tony Evers (D) is expected to attend the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) National Convention and Expo in Milwaukee this week (July 10-13), but Evers has not released any official information, if he will ban the Waukesha County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) from renewing 287(g) and any other state, county and local law enforcement agency from entering into agreement with the U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) under the discriminatory and profiling 287(g) program, according to lawsuits filed in federal court against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Arizona. Arpaio was ousted from office, then convicted in federal court and later pardoned by Trump.
Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) contacted the Governor's Office on Monday, but failed to get a response due to their slow protocol for media questions that have to be submitted via e-mail.
HNNUSA also contacted the Waukesha County Sheriff's Office to confirm, if Sheriff Eric J. Severson will renew the 287(g) agreement, but was not successful in getting a response.
The ICE 287(g) agreement with the WCSO has not been renewed, according to the ICE website.
Bernie Gonzalez, a Civil Rights and Immigrant Rights advocate from Waukesha says, that Governor Evers should kill the 287(g) agreement with the WCSO. Gonzalez also released information to HNNUSA that the ACLU requested an open records request concerning the 287(g) agreement that creates a steering committee involving community members in Waukesha. Apparently, the WCSO posted a steering committee meeting on its website, they "...quietly posted a meeting notice on the Waukesha County website and then held a meeting on September 24 at which no one from the public showed up," according to Tim Muth from the ACLU. The 287(g) steering committee is being labeled as an Illegal Immigrant Steering Committee by the WCSO, according to the ACLU, in an e-mail sent to Gonzalez.
HNNUSA has published several articles, since Evers was elected to hold the governor accountable to the Latino electors in Wisconsin, especially in the Milwaukee area who were instrumental in electing him, which HNNUSA is spearheading for Evers to ban the 287(g) program in Wisconsin. U.S.A. - Americans and Hispanics including immigrants residing in the U.S. have the economic empowerment to stop the political financial support to the Trump re-election campaign by not shopping and spending their hard earned money at Home Depot, Menards, Walgreens, Uber and Walmart, which are a few major corporate merchandise and retail providers that support Trump and his immigration policies to keep undocumented children in cages and detention facilities with deplorable conditions by the U.S. border.

It has been reported by the mainstream media and watch group of attorney's that visited the camps that children held in "tent cities" also known as concentration camps are being treated inhumane and lacking the basic hygiene necessities (children have been denied toothpaste and soap)
prompting ICE to move some of the children to other detention centers after it was exposed that children were denied the basic hygiene needs. U.S. Department of Justice Attorney Sarah Fabian representing the Trump administration recently argued in a federal court that undocumented children held in camps are not entitled to certain hygiene necessities (soap, toothbrushes including toothpaste, beds) and etc. The federal judge thought otherwise.
BBC reported that in July 2017, US District Judge Dolly Gee found the Trump administration had breached the 1997 Flores agreement by not providing migrant children with appropriate food or hygienic supplies, housing them in cold facilities without beds.
Children are been held in crowded (over capacity conditions) sleeping in concrete without beds, children taking care of infants, children subjected to sexual abuse, harsh treatment, neglect and unsanitary conditions including lack of medical attention and treatment that have led to multiple deaths of undocumented children from Central America.
Under the Trump administration, 10 undocumented immigrants died in 2017 and 12 died in 2018, which the tally does not include the deaths of two Guatemalan children in Customs and Border Patrol custody and reported deaths for 2019. Jakelin Caal Maquin, 7, and Felipe Alonzo-Gomez, 8, died within weeks of each other in December. Nor does it include the March death of a 20-month old girl, Mariee Juárez, nearly two months after she was held at an ICE family detention center in Texas with her mother. Her mother is now suing the government, alleging neglect, NBC News reported.
Also undocumented Carlos Gregorio Hernández Vásquez, 16, from Guatemala died in May at a Texas detention center. Wilmer Josué Ramírez Vásquez, age 2; Juan de León Gutiérrez, 16; Alónzo-Gomez; and Caal Maquin, all died while being detained by ICE and were from Guatemala, BBC reported.

• Private corporation prisons do definitely benefit from the detention of undocumented immigrants by ICE, since the government pays between $133.99 to $200 per day to house an undocumented in a private prison. To hold an undocumented family, it costs at least $319 at a family residential center, according to the U.S.DHS.

• It cost taxpayers at least $775 a day to hold an undocumented child in a "tent city" or a Trump ICE concentration camp, according to HHS/NBC News.
