On Monday, both Morgan Geyser, 12, and Anissa Weier, 12, were charged in Waukesha County with one felony count for first-degree attempted homicide and party to a crime in the attempted stabbing of another 12-year-old girl. On Wednesday, family members of the victim say that she is in stable condition and recovering after surviving a vicious knife attack by two friends.
The victim was lured to a park and then to a wooded area on Saturday where Geyser stabbed her 19 times in the legs, arms and torso as Weier held her down, according to Chief of Police Russell P. Jack from the Waukesha Police Department. Geyser also confessed that Weier had stabbed the victim as well.
The victim was left to die in the wooded area, but she managed to crawl herself out of the woods at Rivera Drive and Big Ben Road near a bicycle trail near Davids Park. A bicyclist found the victim and called Waukesha police to report the horrific crime.
The suspects after stabbing the victim went to a Wal-Mart like nothing had happened. They were taken into custody by a Waukesha County Sheriff's deputy as they walked in a nearby road.
Weier's father told police that he was missing a kitchen knife. The knife was recovered by police.
Both Geyser and Weier were charged as adults on Monday and are facing up to 65-years in prison each, if convicted.
The criminal complaint states, that the suspects had planned to kill the victim for several months and might have been motivated by the fictitious character called "Slenderman." The victim considered Geyser as her best friend. They all attend the same middle school. The victim was stabbed multiple times in vital organs, but is alive, Chief Jack reported during a press conference.
