Milwaukee, WI - On Friday, Latinos and public elected officials celebrated the 90th Birthday of the late United Farm Workers Union leader César E. Chavez at the Milwaukee City Hall rotunda and at the Super Mercado El Rey at the 900 block of S. César E. Chavez Drive. A life-size bronze statue of Chavez was unveiled last year and this year, a name plaque will be placed by the statue.
A reception was hosted by Ernesto and Olivia Villarreal, the owners of the popular El Rey.
The Chavez statue at the El Rey property in Milwaukee's Southside is the eight location in the nation to have a life-size statue of the late UFW leader.
