Milwaukee, WI - On Thursday, a luncheon sponsored by ArtWorks for Milwaukee managed to raise $3,200 for the UMOS Mural 50th Anniversary that depicts multiple themes since 1965 leading up to the civil rights, migrant rights and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Chapman Hall takeover by 500 Latino educational activists to the creation of the Milwaukee Public Schools Bilingual program in the State of Wisconsin. The ArtWorks luncheon was hosted by the United Migrant Opportunity Services (UMOS) on S. Chase Ave.
The unveiling of the 90 foot long by 10 foot high UMOS Mural is set for May 20, 2017 at 2 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in front of the Butters-Fetting Company located at S. Mitchell Street, S. 1st and S. Kinnickinnic Ave.
