Pedro Colon-Ortiz Died After 18-year-old Driver In Vehicle Fleeing A Milwaukee County Sheriff Deputy Struck His Auto

Colon-Ortiz was pronounced deceased on Thursday at S. 13 Street and W. Morgan Ave. shortly after his auto was struck by a fleeing driver in a vehicle during a Milwaukee County Sheriff deputy pursuit.

Milwaukee, WI - Pedro Colon-Ortiz, 25, has been identified as the deceased victim of a tragic auto crash around 5:15p.m. on Thursday caused by an 18-year-old male driver who was fleeing from a Milwaukee County Sheriff deputy who was on pursuit for his failure to pull over. The 18-year-old male suspect and two female passengers were arrested after fleeing from the multiple vehicle crash that claimed the life of Colon-Ortiz. At least four vehicles were involved in the crash.
According to Milwaukee County Sheriff Earnell Lucas during a press conference, a Milwaukee County Sheriff deputy going Southbound on I-43/I-94 noticed a vehicle driving erratic and attempted to pull it over. The vehicle failed to pull over and exited on the Holt Ave. exit and headed Westbound at a high rate of speed and at the intersection of S. 13th Street and W. Morgan Ave., the male driver struck a vehicle killing Colon-Ortiz. The 18-year-old male driver and two females that were fleeing from the deputy got out of the vehicle and fled, but were shortly taken into custody. Deputies found drugs and a handgun inside their vehicle.
The Milwaukee Fire Department also reported that six people were injured in the crash including a Milwaukee County Sheriff deputy who were taken to several local hospitals for treatment.
Colon-Ortiz was engaged to be married and is survived by a son.
