Racine, WI - The U.S. immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested three men in Racine. Kelly Gallaher on Tuesday posted on Facebook (FB) and tagged about 98 FB users that, "Last night 3 more men were taken by ICE. They are staying in the city and quite possibly getting targets from the Sheriff. We are putting together a march for tomorrow Aug. 8 at 3:30p.m. Meet at the Family Dollar parking lot across from Horlick HS. We will march down to Douglas Ave. because this is the area where the men were taken. It is also a large Hispanic community. Bring signs saying Keep Families Together, Get ICE out of Racine, Racine is a Welcoming City etc. Pass this message on so we have a large crowd to let ICE know we are watching what is happening."
Apparently, the Racine County Sheriff's Office is being outed as the possible whistle blower and might be working with ICE. But, community members continue to organize in an effort to inform County residents about ICE ongoing arrests and have organize a resistance in the area against the separation of families. None of the men have been identified by Gallaher.
Last month, a immigrant rights and community activist Ricardo Fierro, 39, who is undocumented was taken into custody by ICE in Racine and sparked a rally and multiple vigils in support of Fierro who was also the president of Wisconsin LULAC Council #347. A Stay of Deportation was filed with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement/Enforcement and Removal Operations Office in Chicago (ICE/ERO) seeking bond and temporary release for Fierro, who was taken into custody by ICE agents on July 24th at his residence. Fierro is being held at the Dodge County jail while being process for deportation.
Fierro lived with his fiancé before his arrest and has five U.S. born children of his own ages, 17, 14, 9, 5 and a 4-month-old and his fiancé has two children ages 16 and 17.
