Madison, Wisconsin - On Tuesday, Jessica McBribe from Wisconsin Right Now (WRN) announced that both WRN and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (MJS) filed a lawsuit against the Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA) for intentionally redacting information regarding a Capitol Police investigation that was initiated after Wisconsin Assembly Minority Leader Rep. Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) complained that Rep. Ortiz-Velez had allegedly made threats by phone to shoot fellow democrats and had threatened to expose the inappropriate personal conduct by Rep. Prado to media. (HNNUSA article link: https://hispanicnewsnetwork.blogspot.com/2026/03/milwaukee-county-criminal-complaint.html)

The State Capitol Police investigated and found no wrong doing by Rep. Ortiz-Velez and they dropped the investigation.

Then months later, Rep. Prado decides to file a complaint against Rep. Ortiz-Velez in Milwaukee County regarding an alleged threat that she was going to expose some compromising information to media, which focused in inappropriate personal conduct by Prado. However, the Milwaukee County complaint for disorderly conduct against Rep. Ortiz-Velez didn't explain what was the actual threat, which is unusual for a criminal complaint. Rep. Ortiz-Velez pleaded no contest to the criminal complaint and paid $300 in fines. (HNNUSA article link: https://hispanicnewsnetwork.blogspot.com/2026/03/48-year-old-wisconsin-state.html)

Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) recently learned that Rep. Prado had an outstanding warrant for her arrest in March 2026 regarding a small claims filing against Rep. Prado who operates Midwest Booking and Tax Solutions case # 2025SC005514, which Milwaukee County Judge Carolina Stark on March 2, ruled for the plaintiff and found Prado in contempt of court for not providing certain financial disclosure and tax returns to the court for multiple months. (CCAP case link: https://wcca.wicourts.gov/caseDetail.html?caseNo=2025SC005514&countyNo=40&index=0)

According to Prado's small claims court record, someone contacted the court in an attempt to remove the arrest warrant against Prado on March 12, which the court entered on the record, "As a result of the phone call received, the Court will withdraw the warrant issued. The court will still hold a hearing March 13, 2026 at 1:30PM to confirm there is no further action required." Ironically, it's the same day that Rep. Prado attended the hearing for Rep. Ortiz-Velez in Milwaukee County as the complaintant in the criminal case against Ortiz-Velez.

Prado's actions against Ortiz-Velez were connected to the Capitol Police investigation, which no criminal wrong doing was found. But the DOA, when an open records request was filed by WRN, it released redacted information, which the WRN and MJS claimed is a violation of open records request, especially when no criminal case was filed against Ortiz-Velez by State Capitol Police.

The Democrats in the State Assembly targeted Rep. Ortiz-Velez for not following Rep. Neubauer directives to avoid voting along with Assembly Republicans when ordered to do so on certain bipartisan bills. Also the Democratic Party of Milwaukee County (DPMC) held a meeting and then decided to sent out a multiple page letter to Democrat members endorsing Rep. Ortiz-Velez's opponent (challenger) in the Democrat primary election, which HNNUSA learned it was an illegal process to do so. The DPMC was advised by various elected Democrat officials that their actions were not legal binding under the Democratic Party of Wisconsin (DPWI) rules and bylaws. The DPMC attempted to have the State Democrat Party approve their illegal endorsement for Rep. Ortiz-Velez challenger, which so far, the DPWI refused to abide by the DPMC illegal endorsement and are expected to be reprimanded for their illegal act. When contacted, Rep. Ortiz-Velez could only confirmed to HNNUSA that the DPWI refused to acknowledge, and would not approve the illegal act by the DPMC endorsement of her challenger during the Democratic primary elections in 2026, which is unusual and not legal under state laws and the bylaws of the DPWI.

Brett Timmerman, the Chairman of the Democratic Party of Milwaukee County resigned on Tuesday. He was facing a backlash from the Democratic Party of Wisconsin for endorsing a candidate over an incumbent before the Primary election 2026.
