Milwaukee, WI - Hasn't anyone noticed that in the City of Milwaukee, realtors and private home sellers are not mandated to include in the home listing that the home being sold on the market has a toxic freshwater lead lateral connected to the City's water main (water service lines). Toxic freshwater lead laterals can create a health risk to anyone drinking or cooking food with the water from the lead laterals, especially, if the lead laterals have been disturbed or lead particles loosened up and get into the drinking and cooking water supply.

Every potential home buyer should have the right to know, if he or she are buying a home from the 74,000 homes in the City of Milwaukee that still have a toxic freshwater lead lateral connected to the City's water main.

Contact your Wisconsin state legislator today and push for statewide legislation mandating that realtors and private home sellers to list when selling a home that the house for sale has a toxic freshwater lead lateral connected to the City's water main.

Check list of properties in Milwaukee with services lines (LSLs) made of lead, whether it includes the utility-owned section from the main to the curb stop, the privately-owned section from the curb stop to the meter, or both. There are 164,000 water service lines in Milwaukee; at this time, approximately 74,000 are made of lead.
