Ajuchitlan, Querétaro, Mexico - On Monday, Enrique Plancarte Solis, 43, aka, "Kike" was killed in Ajuchitlan on Monday in a shootout with Mexican Marines, according to the Secretary of Marines. Marines entered the municipality of Colón, Querétaro around noon after Plancarte Solis was believed to have been staying there since Friday.
Plancarte originally from Nueva Italia, Michoacan fled from Colón, but was located in Ajuchitlan about 15 minutes from municipality of Colón where he was reported killed during a confrontation with Mexican Marines. The Mexican authorities are trying to confirm that the body recovered at the scene is Plancarte Solis.
Mexican authorities say, that Samuel Díaz Benítez, 32, a close associate of Plancarte Solis was arrested on Saturday in Apatzingán and Benítez provided the location where the drug cartel leader was hiding. Mexican Marines surrounded Colón and eventually located Plancarte Solis in Ajuchitlan.
