Chicano music round-up in memory of Manuel Rivas Jr., Nov. 14, 1955 - August 10, 2011.

St. Francis, Wisconsin - On Saturday, a benefit dance in memory of Manuel Rivas Jr., 55, attracted hundreds of Mexican-American friends, relatives and well wishers to the event. The 6-hour dance was held in the St. Francis Community Center at the 3400 block of E. Howard Ave. A 10 dollar donation was requested and numerous items were raffle to raise funds.
Music was provided by Grupo Incomparable de Milwaukee, Boni Contreras, La Nación Chicana, Los Chicanos and Tejano D.J. Carlos García.
A family member said Rivas Jr. passed away on August 10, 2011 from complications with heart failure. Rivas Jr. was a popular singer, played Chicano music with various groups and specialized in the accordion. He played with Grupo Incomparable de Milwaukee and La Nación Chicana before subcumming to his illness.
