Beach Park, Illinois - On Monday, Armando Trejo Jr., 47, was charged with two felony counts for 1st-degree murder in connection with the aluminum baseball bat beating death of his wife, Lailani Uy Trejo, 43, and stepson, Patrick K. Cruz Uy, 14, including one felony count for aggravated assault in the beating of his elderly mother. On Sunday around 2:45 a.m., Lailani called 911 after a domestic dispute violence erupted between Trejo and her. It took Lake County Sheriff deputies about five minutes to respond to the 10200 block of W. Bairstow Ave. where they discovered the bloodied bodies of both Lailani and Patrick inside the home.
Trejo's mother, age 68 was also beaten with an aluminum baseball bat and had her armed broken as she attempted to help Lailani, according to the Lake County criminal complaint. The domestic dispute began over an argument and Trejo brutally beat Lailani with the baseball bat and Patrick as he tried to aid his mother as well causing fatal injuries. Trejo confessed to Lake County Sheriff investigators that he used the baseball bat to murder his wife and stepson.
A Lake County judge set a $5M dollar bail for Trejo. If convicted, Trejo is facing two life terms in prison.
Trejo is scheduled to be back in court on December 22.
