Milwaukee, WI - On Friday, a driver left a corner gas station around 8:05 p.m. in the 2500 block of S. 13th St. in a high accelerated speed and made a u-turn heading northbound striking a vehicle stopped at the corner of W. Arthur Ave. heading westbound. The victim and passengers of an Impala LS stayed at the scene, but the driver of a Honda Accord, including several other passengers fled from the scene and abandon the Accord on the northbound lane on S. 13th St. at the 2400 block of S. 13.
It took police about 45 minutes to get at the scene after multiple calls to 911. A spectator at the scene managed to alert northbound traffic using a flashlight about the abandoned vehicle in the lane obstructing traffic. A passing Milwaukee Parking Checker was able to stop and managed to use its yellow flashing lights to slow down traffic going North and South on S. 13.
Police suspect the Accord was stolen, but the Accord had an ignition key, the vehicle was left running and the front area airbags were deployed. A cellphone was left on the rear passenger floor.
