Milwaukee, WI - On Thursday, Stephon M. Mosley, 26, was booked into the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office without bail after being interrogated by Milwaukee police in connection with Tuesday's alleged sexual assault kidnapping and attempted rape case of a 10-year-old Southside girl. Mosley has not been charged, but charges are pending in the sexual assault case.
Mosley is accused of grabbing the girl while she walked to the St. Martin Lutheran School near S. 15th Place and W. Orchard St. around 8:45 a.m. He pulled the girl alongside the rear of a home and proceeded to assault her.
A neighbor heard the girl's scream and came to the rescue. Mosley had his pants down when the neighbor arrived at the scene and prevented Mosley from raping her. But he fled to W. Greenfield Ave.
The girl told police that Mosley had threaten to kill her. Mosley was arrested on Wednesday night in the 1200 block of W. Madison St. hours after his photo shopping at a local grocery store was aired by media outlets. The photo went viral on Facebook (FB) and people recognized him and tips led police to his Facebook account and arrest.
Mosley's brother had posted on FB that he turned himself in to police, but police had made the arrest. In Mosley's FB account, hundreds of comments have been posted condemning his alleged assault of the young child. Numerous people have posted that he should kill himself or that he would be raped in jail by other inmates prompting family members to respond in defense of Mosley. Others posted that Mosley is innocent until proven guilty, while some family members are blaming the young girl for the assault, according to FB postings in Mosley's account.
In one posting, a family member alleged that Mosley had attempted or assaulted another young girl related to him and that possibly it was reported to authorities.
