Milwaukee, WI - On Friday, Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) learned that the Dental Associates clinic, 1135 S. Cesar E. Chavez Drive is expected to close by the end of the year or early next year. The closing will affect about 300 staff members who are mostly Spanish speaking.
Dental Associates plans to remodel a building near W. Lincoln Ave. on Miller Parkway (S. 43rd St.). Employees haven't been told, if they will relocate to the Miller Parkway clinic or will be replaced, according to a creditable source who did not want to be identified.
Also, Hispanic, Hmong and ethnic employees at the Dental Associates clinic, 11711 W. Burleigh St. in Wauwatosa have been prohibited from Speaking Spanish or other languages at the clinic, unless they are translating. Some employees have refused to translate because their supervisor doesn't want employees speaking their native language with other staff members while at work. The Wauwatosa clinic has at least 60 to 80 employees and one Dentist who speaks predominately in Spanish, according to the source.
The administration at Dental Associates hasn't announced their intent to relocate the S. Chavez Drive clinic to Miller Parkway. If the Southside clinic relocates, Chavez Drive will be left without a dental clinic in the Chavez Drive proximity.
