Officer And Four Men Shot Including One Dead Over Easter Sunday Weekend

Shootings occurred in the South side neighborhood

Milwaukee -Police reported five separate shooting incidents over the Easter weekend in the South side. Three teens were shot and one dies, and a police officer is shot three times while he returned fire and shot the shooter a 45-year-old suspect five times, according to Edward Flynn, Police Chief. Milwaukee Police first received a call about 3 p.m. from a woman regarding an armed suspect involved in a domestic situation in the 1300 block of S. 36th Street.
On Monday, Flynn said, Officer Vidal Colón, 30, a seven-year veteran in the police department was responding to a domestic dispute call on Saturday at about 3:08 p.m. when he spotted the suspect after he abandon his SUV and ran into a gangway between two houses. Uniformed officers followed the suspect. Colón told the suspect to drop his weapon and the suspect began to fire at the officer. They were between five to seven feet from each other in the 1200 block of S. 36th St. They were shooting at each other while they layed on the ground, said Flynn. Chief Flynn phrased and called Officer Colón’s action as “extraordinarily brave.”
Officer Colón was shot three times, once in the stomach and twice in his legs. Colón was not wearing body armor. He was released from the hospital on Monday. Louis M. Domenech, the 45-year-old suspect remains in critical condition at Froedtert Hospital, according to Flynn.

On Thursday, Domenech a nine-time felon, was charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide, possession of a firearm by a felon and two drug possession charges. Domenech has an extensive arrest record. He is currently on Federal probation for an incident in January 2000 in which he pointed a gun and attempted to discharge it at Milwaukee police officers. Domenech is a convicted felon and has an
arrest record for robbery, aggravated battery, burglary, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, escape from police, operating an auto without owner’s consent, carrying a concealed weapon and issue of worthless checks. Drugs were also recovered near Domenech at the scene as was his gun, according to Anne E. Schwartz, MPD Communications Director.
In a separate shooting incident, shortly after midnight on Saturday two 17-year-old boys believed to be runaways and members of a gang from Illinois were walking near S. 13th St. and W. Windlake Ave. when they got into an argument with members of a rival gang standing on a porch. The two teens were chased by a gang member from Milwaukee into an alley on S. 13th and shot both of them. Spencer Buckle, 17, from Illinois was killed and the other teenager was crazed by a bullet, according to a police report. The shooting suspect is sought by police.
On early Monday, an 18-year-old man was reported shot at about 12:00 a.m. in the neck at the 3600 block of W. Rogers St. The man was taken to a nearby hospital, and is expected to survive, according to police.
Two Friday’s ago on April 3rd, a 30-year-old woman was followed to S. 15th St. and W. National Ave. and shot in the chest by a 22-year-old woman. Both women got into a minor accident near N. 5th St. and W. Wright St. while one of them was parking.
The 22-year-old suspect followed the the victim to the South side. The victim got out of her vehicle and pushed the suspect backwards. The 22-year-old suspect then shot the victim, she survived. Police are searching for the suspect.
