Milwaukee, Wisconsin- On Tuesday, August 16, 2022, when contacted about the Luis Lorenzo homicide case at El Rey Supermarket on S. Chávez Drive, Attorney William Sulton confirmed that he plans to file a lawsuit next week.

Next week, a wrongful death lawsuit is expected to be filed in Milwaukee County against El Rey Supermarket and Enoch Wilson, 45, the Director of Marshal Public Safety (MPS), according to Attorney William Sulton who is representing the family of Luis J. Lorenzo, 36, aka, "Pito" who in July 9, 2022 was targeted by now deceased Marshal Public Safety Officer Anthony "Tony" James Nolden, 59. who lost his life after he and Wilson attacked Lorenzo after leaving the El Rey Supermarket. Both Wilson and Nolden chased after Lorenzo in the parking lot of El Rey after Lorenzo was mazed by Nolden and Wilson tackled Lorenzo to the ground. Lorenzo fearing for his life took out a weapon from his backpack and fatally shot Nolden. Then Wilson fatally shot Lorenzo.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office ruled both deaths as homicides.

The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office later decided not to criminally charge Wilson for Lorenzo's homicide. Wilson and Nolden both had expired gun licenses as security guards while contracted by El Rey Supermarket.

Wilson and Nolden were illegally carrying firearms while working as private security at El Rey because Wilson's firearm license expired on June 28, 2022 and Nolden's firearm license had expired on March 10, 2022, according to the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) website.

Lorenzo's death was initially triggered when he refused to leave his backpack at the El Rey customer service desk. The El Rey has a none posted store policy enforcement of no big bags or backpacks allowed inside El Rey.

Lorenzo frequently went to El Rey to eat food at the taquería (food restaurant) located inside El Rey on S. César E. Drive in the Southside of Milwaukee, according to his family.
