Atizapán de Zaragoza, Mexico, Mexico - Andres Filomeno Mendoza Celis, 72, during a court hearing confessed that he tortured, murdered, dismembered and ate body parts of at least 30 women since 1991. Mexican authorities in Atizapán discovered a diary where Mendoza logged 29 names of alleged female victims along with other evidence that included shoes, belongings (clothing) of the victims including voting/electoral identification cards inside the suspect's home.

Authorities also recovered multiple video cassettes of the homicides.

Authorities discovered a room under his bedroom where he buried the corpses. The floor has to be removed to get the remains of the victims.

There could be additional victims, authorities reported. Mendoza was taken into custody on Saturday, May 15.

The last alleged victim was Reyna Gonzalez, 34, who went missing on May 14 and she was last seen with Mendoza. Gonzalez's husband, Bruno Ángel went to Mendoza's home to seek information about his missing wife. He noticed that Mendoza became nervous while talking to him and he went inside Mendoza's home and discovered Reyna's dismembered body on top of a table in the lower basement level under Mendoza's bedroom. Mendoza was immediately arrested after police arrived.

A search warrant later discovered remains and evidence connecting Mendoza to a series of female homicides.

Mendoza was the former President of the Lomas de San Miguel Neighborhood Advisory Council.

If convicted, Mendoza is facing multiple life sentences in prison.
