Ward was taken into custody on Thursday in the City of Milwaukee, the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office reported.

Kenosha, WI - On Thursday, the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) who is investigating the homicide of City of Racine Police Officer John Hetland reported that Milwaukee police along with other law enforcement agencies had arrested Dalquavis T. Ward, 26, in the City of Milwaukee in connection with Hetland's murder.
Ward, the suspect in the homicide of Racine Police Officer Hetland is currently in the custody at the Kenosha County Jail. More than $80,000 dollars reward was being offered for information leading to Ward's arrest, but information from the Wisconsin DOJ Criminal Lab led to Ward's arrest.
Off-duty Racine Police Officer Hetland, a 28-year police veteran with the department was fatally shot on Monday, June 17 around 9:40 p.m. at the 1900 block of Lapthrop Ave. while attempting to arrest Ward, a suspected armed robber at Teezer's Tavern in Racine.
Ward's arrest on Thursday was made with the cooperation of over 17 law enforcement agencies and thousands of hours of work by investigators.
Details of the case will not be released at this time. Detectives from the agencies involved are continuing to investigate, according to the KCSO.
