García, the religious sect leader from La Luz del Mundo in Mexico facing life in prison, if convicted on all charges in California.

Los Angeles, California - On Wednesday, Naasón Jaoquín García, 50, the religious sect leader from La Luz del Mundo headquartered in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico was charged with 26 state felony counts for forced rape of minors ranging in ages from 10 to 16, human trafficking, production child pornography including other felony crimes committed between 2015 to 2018 and a cash bond of $50 million was set for his release. García along with Alondra Ocampo, 36, and Susana Medina Oaxaca, 24, were taken into custody on Monday at the Los Angeles International Airport. State authorities are also looking for Azalea Rangel Meléndez who remains at large and is wanted on multiple charges as well.
According to Xavier Becerra, the California State Attorney General, four victims have come forward and more victims are being sought in connection with the case. Becerra referred to García as a very sick man during a press conference.
Becerra is seeking other potential victims and victims should contact (323) 765-2100 or the California Department of Justice internet website at https://oag.ca.gov/LLDM to denounce any sexual assault and abuse concerning this case.
According to the criminal complaint filed with the Los Angeles County Superior Court, the California Department of Justice alleges Joaquín García and his co-defendants committed 26 felonies in Southern California over a period of approximately four years. Joaquín García and his co-defendants allegedly coerced victims into performing sexual acts by telling them that if they went against any of his desires or wishes as "the Apostle," that they were going against God. The other individuals named in the complaint are Ocampo, Melendez, and Oaxaca, all of whom are affiliated with La Luz Del Mundo. In addition to Joaquín García, Ocampo and Oaxaca were arrested on Monday. An arrest warrant has also been issued for Melendez, who is currently at large, according to the criminal complaint.
Update (July 17, 2019): Los Angeles County Magistrate David Fields denied bail for Naasón Joaquín García, the leader of La Luz del Mundo who previously had a $50M bail. Garcia is considered a flight risk and authorities found thousands of child pornography images in his cell phone, which investigators say that he is obsessed with child pornography. Alondra Ocampo bail was set at $25M, Susana Medina Oaxaca was set free after posting $150K bail and Azalea Rangel Melendez is still at large and is wanted on a felony warrant in California. The defendants are scheduled to return to a court hearing on August 2, 2019.
