Miller facing the death penalty in the homicide of Kissimmee Police Officer Matthew Baxter and a second officer has died from his injuries.

Kissimmee, Florida - Everett Glenn Miller, 45, has been charged with 1st-degree premeditated murder in the shooting death of Kissimmee Police Officer Matthew Baxter, 27, on Friday. Miller was also charged with carrying a conceal weapon where prohibited and resisting arrest without violence. He is expected to be charged with an additional 1st-degree premeditated murder for the homicide of Sergeant Richard "Sam" Howard. Sgt. Howard, 36, died on Saturday afternoon from his injuries, the Kissimmee Police Department in Osceola County, Florida reported.
Both Officer Baxter and Sgt. Howard just after 9:30 p.m. on Friday were responding to a suspicious person at Palmer and Cypress Streets and were shot by Miller. The officers were in uniform and didn't have time to return fire.

If convicted of two counts of premeditated murder, Miller is facing the death penalty.
Officer Baxter was a three year veteran with the Kissimmee Police Department (KPD). He is survived by his wife who is also a Kissimmee police officer and three children.

At least four other law enforcement officers were also reported shot on Friday, two County Sheriff deputies in Jacksonville, Florida and two officers in PA.
