Waukegan, Illinois - On Wednesday, the Waukegan Police Department (WPD) released the identity and a booking photo of Santos L. Martinez, 18, who dragged a Waukegan police officer as he hanged on a vehicle door. The officer is one of multiple officers who attempted to take Martinez into custody at a gas station located at the 900 block of Grand Ave. Martinez was driving a stolen four-door 2005 gray Volkswagon.
None of the officers fired a shot at Martinez even when he used the stolen vehicle as a weapon.
According to a press release, the WPD obtained a warrant for Martinez who dragged an officer this past weekend. The WPD is actively looking for Martinez. He is wanted on $250,000 felony warrants for Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest. The WPD considers him to be dangerous.
