Milwaukee, WI - A vehicle around 1:15 p.m. plunged over from the Potawatomi Hotel and Casino parking structure under construction on Saturday afternoon will remain at the site until Monday when a crane is expected to be brought in to remove the vehicle. The accident has drawn many curiosity seekers attempting to get a glimpse of the accident scene.
The driver apparently accelerated, struck a concrete barrier and went over the ledge landing on some false scaffolding below missing some construction workers. City fire rescue workers were able to secure the vehicle and then guide the driver out of the vehicle to safety.
The driver's fortunate luck at the casino was to survive, according to rescuers.
A ramp from the parking structure was removed and the parking structure is under construction to add additional spaces. The expanded parking structure is becoming an eye soar for Northbound drivers on the 16 Street viaduct. The parking structure should have been expanded on the West side of the Potawatomi Casino instead by the Father Groppi viaduct, which now obstructs the view of what was once the beautiful casino flame and building.
The driver was rescued on Saturday without any serious injuries, according to rescue responders from the Milwaukee Fire Department.
