Some had speculated that Governor Scott Walker (R) would be implicated in the investigation and charged, but no charges are expected against Walker. Walker had accumulated about $200k for his defense fund.
Prosecutor's granted immunity to some of the accused and even made plea deals for lesser charges for others, but could never get clear evidence that implicated now Governor Walker to any illegal activity while he was a County executive.
Walker initiated the investigation after money from a Veterans fund went missing. Three of his former aids were convicted for various charges, including one appointee and a campaign donor.
Democrats and Republicans had speculated that Walker would be implicated in the John Doe and others alleged that he would be charged, but no one that was charged ever implicated Walker of any wrongdoing.
