Kenosha, Wisconsin - The Kenosha County Sheriff's Office released the following press release announcing the arrest and criminal charges filed against 8 suspects allegedly involved in a interstate cartel retail theft ring in Illinois and Wisconsin. Four of the suspects, one from Wisconsin and three from Illinois made bail ($25,000 each), but the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (USICE) placed a hold on them, they were taken into custody and were later deported to Mexico. The four other suspects are facing charges in Wisconsin. All of the suspects are allegedly tied to the Cartel La Familia (Family Cartel) Michocana in Mexico.

According to the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office, in March 2025, Kenosha County Sheriff's Office (KESO) Kenosha Drug Operations Group (KDOG) Detectives were contacted by the Oak Brook, Illinois, Police regarding an investigation with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and United States Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE), regarding an organized retail theft ring. This cell has direct ties to Cartel La Familia Michoacana in Mexico.

Cartel members are known to move around the country using a sophisticated network of stash houses, vehicles, and fraudulent identifications. It is estimated that this organization is responsible for more than a hundred million dollars in thefts annually in the United States. The proceeds from these crimes are used to further the Cartel's Narcotic, Firearm, and Human Trafficking mission.

On April 6th, 2025, this group was observed committing thefts in Pleasant Prairie, WI. On April 10th, several members of this group were detained in a traffic stop by KESO Deputies.  These individuals were in possession of more than $21,000.00 worth of stolen retail merchandise from Madison, WI.

On May 6th, 2025, KDOG and general assignment detectives conducted a Search Warrant at 3919-28th Avenue, Apartment #4, with the assistance of the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team.  As a result of the execution of this search warrant, additional information was obtained that led detectives to a storage unit in Kenosha. A second warrant was drafted and was served on the storage unit location the same day.

Four members of the theft ring were taken into custody and transported to the Kenosha County Jail. Four other members of the organization were not at the residence, but their locations were revealed. KDOG detectives, HSI investigators, and ICE agents coordinated with the Illinois State Police and the Cook County Sheriff's Police to take them into custody.

Eight subjects in total were arrested in this investigation, and all currently have open local criminal cases. Fausto Javier Gonzalez-Medrano, Manuel Perez-Sanchez, Yareli Salas-Ramirez, and Danna Paola Gomez posted bonds up to $25,000.00 and were picked up by USICE. They have not returned to court as they have been deported back to Mexico. They each have fully extraditable warrants issued for their arrests, should they return to the United States. The remaining suspects are in custody at the Kenosha County Jail.

The suspects are:

• Javier Fausto Gonzalez-Medrano, 29, of Kenosha, WI, charged with two felony counts for receiving stolen property (>$2,500-$5,000) and retail theft intentionally take (>$500-$5,000) and party to a crime, according to Kenosha County court records, two bench warrants are active.

• Jose Antonio Baez-Fuerte, 28, of Kenosha, WI, charged with one felony count for receiving stolen property (>$10,000) and party to a crime.

• Jorge Alberto Villeda-Sevilla, 32, of Kenosha, WI, charged with one felony count for receiving stolen property (>$10,000) and party to a crime.

• Sharon Jazmin Villeda-Sevilla, 23, of Kenosha, WI, charged with one felony count for receiving stolen property (>$10,000) and party to a crime.

• Ana Paola Villeda-Sevilla, 34, of Kenosha, WI, charged with one felony count for receiving stolen property (>$10,000) and party to a crime.

• Manuel Perez-Sanchez, 39, of Zion, IL, charged with one felony count for receiving stolen property (>$10,000) and party to a crime. He is also with one misdemeanor count for obstructing an officer.

• Danna Paola Gomez, 20, of Chicago, IL, charged with one felony count for receiving stolen property (>$10,000) and party to a crime. She is also charged with one misdemeanor count for resisting or obstructing an officer.

• Yareli E. Salas-Ramirez, 31, of Zion, IL, charged with one felony count for receiving stolen property (>$10,000) and party to a crime.

There was a vast quantity of stolen merchandise, along with tools and other evidence of the crimes, recovered in the residence. More than $53,000.00 in stolen items still had price tags. There was an equal amount or more in stolen items, the values of which have yet to be confirmed.

More than $16,000.00 in stolen merchandise was recovered from the storage unit, and it is estimated that more than $120,000.00 in stolen property was recovered in Kenosha County during this operation.

The Kenosha District Attorney's Office was present during the warrant and subsequent evidence processing. The Kenosha Sheriff's Office coordinated with Illinois Agencies, HSI, and ICE to ensure all appropriate charges, warrants, and immigration detainers are in place. Additionally, several of the arrested individuals were considered "high-level" members of the cartel.

This case was a massive undertaking. KDOG detectives, KESO general assignment detectives and deputies, and the KDOG Strike Team members, along with representatives and agents from HSI Houston, TX, HSI Milwaukee, Milwaukee ICE, Oak Brook, IL, Police, and Katy, TX, Police, collaborated during this investigation.

Sheriff Zoerner stated, "The Kenosha County Sheriff's Office is honored to have played a crucial role with all of our involved law enforcement partners.  I am proud of the fact that KDOG detectives identified key members, executed search warrants, and gathered crucial evidence of this cartel retail theft ring."

MATC Celebrates The Purging Of Diversity Programs And The Investiture Of Dr. Anthony Cruz As The 11th President Who Eliminated The Multicultural Affairs Office

Dr. Cruz after more than a year at the Milwaukee Area Technical College decided to eliminate the Multicultural Affairs Office and replaced it with the Office of Community Impact to serve nearly 63% of students of color, which 23% of student enrollment at the technical college are Hispanics.

September 23, 2025

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Tuesday's Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) Board of Trustees meeting open public comments session, Becky Quesada, a former MATC student and retired Student Services employee at MATC during the hearing told the Board and Dr. Cruz that she was a product of the Multicultural Affairs Office, this department has been in effect in this institution for over 45 years, and I'm really appalled that it wasn't given the respect that it has brought and done for the many 1st generation of students, which this department services. She also pointed her finger at Dr. Cruz while saying, Dr. Cruz you mentioned in one of your social media posts, that you are the 1st generation Latino President at MATC, shame on you in closing that department (Multicultural Affairs Office) and shame on the Board, if it doesn't use or exercise it's power to override that for the many thousands of students that have gone through that department and succeeded in education. ( MATC Board meeting, first 19 minutes are for public comments at link: https://www.youtube.com/live/_1JJkcL-zoA )

During his Investiture Ceremony on Friday at MATC, Dr. Cruz said that he was a 1st generation Latino graduate in his family. Quesada in response on Tuesday, told him "shame on you," for being a 1st generation Latino graduate to become the 11th President of MATC, and to be the Latino who decided to eliminate the Multicultural Affairs Office, including the diverse student services that helped her graduate from MATC when she was a student.

Dr. Cruz allegedly initiated internal policy to eliminate any Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs for Black, Asian, Latino and Native-Americans students at all technical college campuses.

Under Dr. Cruz leadership, more than 700 part-time faculty and employees unknowingly experienced a cut of salaries totalling more than $622K in 2025 leading to what some critics are calling a major wage theft by the leadership (administration) of the Human Resources Office, which the MATC Board of Trustees have yet to hold the Human Resources administration accountable for cutting the wages of part-time employees without the approval of the Board. The MATC Local AFT 212 Union has initiated a under payment (wage theft) complaint with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.

Also, four Student Services Specialists from the Multicultural Affairs Office were terminated last Thursday without any recourse to transfer to other available positions at MATC. They were offered Confidential Separation Agreement and Waiver agreements with up to three months worth of salary by MATC, but the four terminated employees opted out and refused to sign the agreement. (See attached 9-page Confidential Agreement)

In a letter to the Board of Trustees, Jon Shelton, President of the AFT-Wisconsin wrote, I write today, in my capacity as the President of the American Federation of Teachers- Wisconsin and on behalf of our members and allies across the state, to express my deep concern about your decision to eliminate the Office of Multicultural Services and to eliminate student service specialists who are members of our union...Further, eliminating the positions of our members without due process and essentially replacing them with new hires is an affront to the principle that when a worker commits to an excellent institution of higher education like MATC, they should only be fired with cause or let go under exigent circumstances. This moment qualifies as neither of those scenarios.

Carlos Aranda, Counselor at MATC wrote a letter to the Board of Trustees as well saying, I come before you today because the decisions being made at this institution are inflicting irreparable harm—not only on the staff who have lost their livelihoods, but also on the students and communities who once trusted MATC to be a beacon of diversity, equity, and opportunity.
This college is one of the most diverse institutions in the state, serving the most diverse student population. Yet under current leadership, programs and positions designed to serve those very communities are being dismantled. By removing multicultural staff—individuals who for years stood as tireless advocates for equity and inclusion—this administration has weakened our services and silenced the very voices that held MATC accountable to its mission.

The damage is not theoretical. Those who remain now live under fear: fear that raising concerns will cost them their jobs. Where once advocates stood boldly for students of color, immigrant families, and underrepresented groups, there is now a hush. Retaliation has become a weapon; intimidation has replaced collaboration. Let us be absolutely clear: diversity is not wrong. Equity is not wrong. Inclusion is not wrong. But surrendering to fear and allowing these values to be erased would be profoundly wrong.

No matter how hard some may try to erase these voices, we will continue to stand strong. Those who have dedicated their lives to equity and inclusion deserve more than symbolic recognition on a website. They deserve real, intentional support through dedicated departments and resources. Oversight by this Board is not optional—it is your responsibility to ensure that this institution's reputation is upheld with integrity.

Yet the record shows otherwise. There is clear evidence of intimidation, retaliation, and a disregard for the very populations MATC is meant to serve. The recent firings were not only harmful but botched—leaving dedicated employees without recourse, their reputations damaged, and their students abandoned. These individuals cannot simply be forgotten, nor should their contributions be treated as expendable.

For that reason, I am requesting that those who advised the president to eliminate these four employees of color be held accountable and terminated from their positions, including the current manager and the Vice President of Community Engagement. To move forward, MATC must demonstrate that retaliation and discriminatory practices will not be tolerated.

We must remember those who were dismissed. We must fight for them. And we must demand accountability so that their legacy of service to students and communities can continue.

If we do not, the cost will extend far beyond those silenced today. It will fall upon our students, our communities, and the very future of MATC itself.

In a previous email dated September 16, 2025, Erica L. Case, MATC District Board Chairperson wrote to Aranda, "Dear Mr. Aranda, I acknowledge receipt of your email(s) below and previously sent and thank you for your concern. I assure you that the Board takes personnel matters and other complaints seriously.

However, as you have been previously informed by prior Board Chair(s), it is not appropriate for advocacy concerning personnel matters to be directed to the Board.

The MATC District Board is a policy board, not a management Board. Its role, generally, is to set policy and assess the administration's implementation of those policies. The Board does not dictate outcomes of personnel matters (including complaints and investigations) made by the Administration, as you request.

The College has policies, processes, and procedures governing how complaints will be investigated and resolved to ensure that all such disputes are fairly and fully analyzed in accord with legal requirements. The Board does serve an institutional role as the final appellate authority for certain decisions made by the administration and contested by affected employees. To ensure the integrity and objectivity of that appellate process, it is inappropriate for the Board to receive direct communications and demands regarding complaints that are in the investigative process or have not reached the Board with a fully-developed record because prior steps in the process have not yet been started, much less, completed.

Thank you for your continued support for the mission of MATC, wrote Chairperson Case.

The MATC District Board has a history of not taking any action to resolve any pending matters or complaints brought to them during monthly meetings by students, faculty, employees and community members regarding the MATC administration ongoing harassment, retaliation, retribution, hostile work environment and not promoting part-time faculty to full-time.

Also, the MATC Board of Trustees have failed to resolve the hiring of a non-bilingual instructor to teach an advertised bilingual economic class, which the instructor had no credible credentials to teach the course.

In addition, Dr. Cruz has been recognized by other entities in Milwaukee as an influential Latino in Milwaukee, but in more than a year at MATC, Cruz has yet to prove himself at MATC that he can actually resolve the ongoing internal hostile work environment and the continued practices by his administration to harass, retaliate and etc. against faculty and employees that have come out, complained and exposed their practices to the inept Board of Trustees.

Ashland County Dems In Ohio Ousted From The Ashland County Fair 2025 Over Political Buttons Asking, "Felon, Is He Dead Yet?"

The local Ashland County Democrats in Ohio were ousted from the Ashland County Fair 2025 last Thursday because they were handing out buttons deemed in poor taste by several Republican Ashland County Sheriff deputies and three Republican Ashland County Fair board members.

Ashland, Ohio - On Thursday, September 18, 2025, Ohio Democrats were escorted out of the Ashland County Fair 2025 by the Ashland County Sheriff's deputies, after they refused to stop handing out buttons asking, "Felon, Is he dead yet?", including other buttons saying, "One day, we will wake up to his obituary," alongside the coded slogan "8647."

The County Fair took place from September 14 - 20, 2025 in Ashland Ohio.

The Ashland County Sheriff's Office has launched an investigation and the Secret Service was notified of a suspected death threat to Trump, according to Sheriff Kurt Schneider.

The Ashland County Dems were prohibited to return to the Ashland County Fair for the rest of the fair, which ended last Saturday,  September 20th, according to Ashland Fair organizers.

Asking the following,  Felon, is he dead yet?, is not considered a death threat, but free speech, which is just asking for an update status.

The Ashland County Fair organizers released the following statement on their Facebook (FB) page on September 18, 2025. The FB post read, "The Ashland County Fair Board would like to let you know this afternoon we were made aware of offensive buttons in the Democrat booth. We are a family friendly fair and do not condone this from any vendor/merchant.  We apologize for those who saw the display.  The democrat party has been asked to pack their booth up for this year so they will not be here the remaining of our Fair week. This is not political, we just can't have this at our County Fair!"

The Ashland County Democratic Party in Ohio released the following press release in regards to the incident.

A Republican County Official Silenced the Opposing Party in Ashland County

The Ashland County Democratic Party was ejected from its booth at the Ashland County Fair on, September 18th, 2025.

Three Republican members of the Ashland County fair board, backed by two Republican County sheriff deputies, ordered the Ashland County Democratic Party to leave the county fair and shut down their booth because they disapproved of Ashland Democrats criticizing the Republican administration. Deputies told the residents staffing the booth that they had to leave.

Both county parties have had booths at the county fair each year for over five decades. This is the first time county officials have ever ejected anyone from the fair for strictly political reasons.

The Sheriff told FOX News in Cleveland that he was informing the Secret Service.

This incident is not an isolated event but part of a dangerous pattern. We have seen instances of abuse of power before. Nixon kept an enemies list and attempted to use the IRS to target journalists. McCarthy dragged writers, actors, and reporters before hearings and wrecked careers with blacklists and loyalty oaths. Those were shameful chapters. However, even then, the machinery of the state was not routinely deployed to silence the chairs of opposing parties at local community events.

The use of law enforcement to suppress political speech at the local level represents a grave threat to our democracy and the foundational principle that government officials cannot use their power to punish dissent. As Senator Ed Markey warned us this week, what we are witnessing is "censorship in action."

Our party remains committed to engaging with the voters of Ashland County and fighting for the democratic principles that are under attack.

The Ashland County Democratic Party is committed to advocating for the values of fairness, equality, and opportunity for all residents of Ashland County. We work to elect Democratic candidates and engage with the community to build a brighter future for Ohio.

We hear those in our own party and those in opposition who feel those buttons were in poor taste. In retrospect, given the emotions running high in the wake of the Charlie Kirk assassination and subsequent scrutiny of criticism by the government, we should have thought about this more. We strongly oppose many of the policies of the Trump administration. We feel they are damaging the country. We express our ideas using our words and peaceful demonstrations. We do not and will never endorse political violence.
