Castro, Cleveland's Sadistic Rapist DNA Confirmed 6-year-old Jocelyn Is Daughter

DeWine, Ohio State Attorney General confirmed that a preliminary DNA test shows Ariel Castro is Jocelyn's father.

Cleveland, Ohio - On Friday, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine confirmed that a preliminary DNA test showed kidnapping suspect, Ariel Castro, 52, is the father of Jocelyn, 6. Amanda Berry, 27, gave birth to Jocelyn on December 25, 2006 after being repeatedly raped by Castro.

DeWine news release stated, "that the Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) received a sample of Castro's DNA late yesterday afternoon, and forensic scientists worked throughout the night to confirm that Castro is the father of the six-year-old girl born in captivity to one of the kidnapping victims.

"Castro's DNA profile was also compared to other DNA profiles submitted to the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS). Castro's DNA did not match any other Ohio cases, however national results are pending through the FBI," according to DeWine.

On Thursday, Cuyahoga County District Attorney Timothy McGinty also confirmed that Ariel Castro is facing five counts of aggravated homicide in connection with Michelle Knight's, 31, repeated pregnancies during multiple sexual assaults in a ten year period when she was held against her will. Knight was starved by Ariel up to two weeks at a time and he allegedly punched her abdomen to induce miscarriages, according to the criminal complaint. If the murder charges are filed against Ariel for inducing miscarriages of a raped kidnapping victim, the death penalty can be sought, according to state.

He also impregnated Berry and Knight helped delivered her baby in 2006 inside a plastic water pool. Knight told police, that Ariel threatened to kill her, if Jocelyn had died as a newborn. Jocelyn briefly stopped breathing when she was delivered, but Knight resuscitated her.

Ariel has been charged with four counts of kidnapping, repeated abuse and three counts of aggravated rape of the women, including Georgina De Jesus, 23, for almost a decade. Judge Lauren Moore set a $8 million dollar bond for Ariel who was currently collecting weekly unemployment benefits. He was put in isolation and on a suicide watch.

Pedro Castro, 54, pled no contest to a 2011 open-container charged and was fined $100. Judge Moore dismissed several decade old charges for drug abuse and open-container against Onil Castro, 50. Both Pedro and Onil Castro were released and won't be charged with abduction of three women, since there is no evidence that they knew that the women were kidnapped and raped by their own brother, Ariel Castro. 

On Monday, three missing women were rescued after Berry managed to release herself and screamed for help as she attempted to escape from a house at 2207 Seymour Ave. A neighbor, Charles Ramsey, 43, who was in his porch eating a burger heard Berry's frantic screams and went to help Berry escape.

But another man, Angel Cordero arrived first at Castro's door to help Berry and Ramsey came over to help as well. Ramsey then made a 911 call from Wintel Tejeda's home at 2210 Seymour Ave. Both, Cordero and Tejeda speak only Spanish and were missed by the mainstream media frenzy. The three men are being hailed as heroes. A reward offered for the missing women will probably be split in three. Ramsey wants to give his share to the victims.

Berry had been missing since 2003, De Jesus since 2004 and Knight since 2002. Berry and De Jesus have been reunited with their families. Knight remains hospitalized.

Chicago, Illinois - On Thursday, Cook County Judge Adam Bourgeois set a $500,000 bail for Elpidio "Juan" Contreras, 53, host of the popular "Show de Juan Contreras" who was charged with one felony count of predatory sexual assault of a child under the age of 13, according to Cook County court records. Contreras allegedly began to molest an 11-year-old girl since last Summer and lasted until April 26, 2013. Chicago police arrested Contreras on Wednesday and is expected back in court on May 29.

Contreras is accused of repeatedly touching the 11-year-old girl's genitals, taking topless photos of her and photos in a bikini while she was taking singing lessons from him at his Hermosa neighborhood office.

Contreras, who has been in the music business for 20 years is the producer and conductor of his show. His popular Spanish language program is aired on Saturday's between 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on TV Azteca America WJYS Channel 62.4 in the Chicago area.

UW-Milw. Will Continue To Sell Palermo's Pizza At Campus Despite Student Protests To Remove Product

Palermo's Pizza stand closed for renovations for the Summer at the Student Union, but the product will continue to be sold on campus, UW-Milwaukee administration says.

Milwaukee, WI - On Tuesday, UW-Milwaukee students (30 to 40 protesters) briefly celebrated in closing down the Palermo's Pizza stand a day earlier before it was scheduled to be closed for renovations. A UWM administrative news web page "Today@UWM" confirmed that the Palermo's Pizza stand had closed a day early due to a student protest at the stand and possible food contamination in the Student Union. Campus police at the site warned students and comminity members supporting the protest to disperse or they would be arrested, cited and students would also face possible non-academic disciplinary sanctions.

On Thursday the Today@UWM reported that, "UWM did not intend to close the pizza stand that day, but because of the presence of protesters in the kitchen preparation area, it was determined that the food in the stand would need to be discarded because it had potentially been contaminated.  As a result, UWM administrators and police announced the stand was being closed. Demonstrators were told they would have to leave or face arrest and, for UWM students, non-academic disciplinary sanctions. Shortly after the stand was closed, the demonstrators dispersed.  The primary goal of UWM Police was to prevent violence and restore normal operations as quickly as possible to ensure the safety of people in the vicinity.

"Because the pizza stand had already been scheduled to close for the summer at the end of business on May 8 due to a major Union renovation project – and because the kitchen area would have to undergo a thorough cleaning prior to reopening – UWM Administrators made the decision not to reopen for just one more day.

"It is important to note that throughout the controversy surrounding the sale of Palermo's products, the UW-Milwaukee Administration has maintained a neutral stance concerning the ongoing labor dispute between the company and workers.

"During the summer months, Palermo Pizza products will continue to be available for sale in the Student Union's "Union Station" store, and in the "Emporium" store located in the Sandburg Towers Residence Hall," the Today@UWM reported. 

Some students vowed to continue their protests to divest Palermo's Pizza products from the UW-System. Other students say, they will boycott the Palermo products throughout campus.

Last month, UW-Madison students protested Palermo's pizza products being sold at the campus and took over the interim chancellor's office. Multiple students were later taken into custody and then released after they were cited. The students demanded for UW-Madison to stop selling Palermo's pizza products. Chancellor David Ward refused.

More protests at UW-Madison are expected from the UW-Milwaukee protest to spread to Madison. The protest in UW-Milwaukee was successful to temporarily shut down a pizza stand selling Palermo's pizza.

An estimated 100 Hispanic Palermo's employees have been on strike since last June after the Palermo Villa Inc. administration fired employees after attempting to organize a union for better wages, safety concerns and more sick time.

Milwaukee, WI - On Wednesday, both Miguel Rubio, 18, and Alexander Karsten, 17, of Milwaukee were sentenced to 6 months each in the House of Corrections (HOC) with huber privileges, can get out to work and must return back to the HOC. They will also have to pay $17,127.94 in restitution, received three years probation each and must do 100 hours of community service each as well, according to court records.

They pled guilty each to one felony count of arson for the early January El Rey Family Market fire at the 5200 block of W. Oklahoma Ave. Karsten was charged as an adult.

Both suspects were caught on video surveillance cameras in the front of the store before the blaze was started.

The blaze caused more than $300,000 in food and $400,000 in building damages. The store was closed for more than two weeks.

Two Castro brothers won't be charged for abduction of three Cleveland women who went missing ten years ago.

Cleveland, Ohio - On Wednesday, a prosecutor confirmed that Pedro Castro, 54, and Onil Castro, 50, won't be charged with abduction of three women, since there is no evidence that they knew that the women were kidnapped and raped by their own brother, Ariel Castro, 52, while they all shared a house. The two brothers are being held on misdemeanor warrants for unrelated charges.

Ariel has been charged with seven felony counts in connection with the kidnapping and rape of Amanda Berry, 27, Georgina De Jesus, 23, and Michelle Knight, 31. Berry has a daughter, Jocelyn, 6, and a DNA test will be conducted to determined if Ariel is the child's father. The child was born while Berry was held against her will.

City Prosecutor Victor Perez during a press conference on Wednesday announced that Ariel Castro was charged with four counts of kidnapping and three counts of rape. Pedro Castro and Onil Castro were not charged in this case as no evidence was produced to the effect that the two knew off or had any involvement in the crimes.

Washington, D.C. - Republican U.S. Senator Ted Cruz from Texas has introduced an amendment, which would prevent more than 11 million immigrants without non-legal status in the country from ever becoming U.S. citizens for visa overstays and crossing into the country illegally, even for children (DREAMers) of non-legal status parents. If Cruz is successful in adding the amendment to the latest immigrantion reform bill being debated in the Senate, millions of immigrants won't be able to become U.S. citizens and likely future voters.

In April during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on immigration,  Cruz stated, "…I don't think there is any issue in this entire debate that is more divisive than a path to citizenship for those who are here illegally. In my view, any bill that insists upon that jeopardizes the likelihood of passing any immigration reform bill.

"So, it is my hope that passing a bipartisan bill addressing areas of common agreement – securing the border, improving legal immigration, improving agricultural workers to ensure that we have workers who are here out of the shadows, able to work legally.

I hope that reform legislation will not be held hostage to an issue that is deeply, deeply divisive, namely a pathway to citizenship. In my view that's how we get something done, we focus on areas of agreement, not on areas of disagreement. And I am hopeful that over the course of consideration, we'll see some consensus come together to do exactly that."

The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold its next executive business meeting at 9:30 am on Thursday, May 9, 2013, to consider S. 744, the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act, including the proposed amendments. The bipartisan legislation was introduced on April 17. The first amendment circulated to the bill is the Sponsors' Amendment, which is expected to be offered at the next executive business meeting.
