Milwaukee, Wisconsin - Embattled Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) has suffered the exodus of countless Latinos/as in the last decade due to its administration continued practice of hostile work environment, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, lack of promotions, not providing the opportunity for part-time instructors to become full-time and etc. for many qualified employees and instructors.
For example, in the attached Latinx Power photo taken at a Voces de la Frontera event in 2023, only Patricia Gómez and Alfredo Luna remain at MATC, the rest in the photo have left MATC for various reasons.
According to a credible MATC source, more than 25 Latinos/as in the last three years have left employment with the technical college in Milwaukee due to forced retirements/resignations, bullying, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, hostile work environment, targeted non-promotions of certain employees and instructors including for issues and concerns that were not addressed and remedied by the MATC leadership team and etc..
For employees, instructors, counselor, former students and employees and etc. testimonies (statements) in front of the MATC Board of Trustees (October and November 2024 public meetings) including response by MATC and full article at following link: https://tinyurl.com/3yndt9tm
