20-year-old Jason Zamora Arrested For Vehicular Homicide While Intoxicated In The Death Of Maryxa Valle Zepeda, 18, In West Allis

Zepeda died in a two vehicle crash on early Sunday.

West Allis, Wisconsin - On Sunday, Jason Zamora, 20, of West Allis was taken into custody by West Allis police after running a red light around 12:30 a.m. at S. 60 and W. Burnham Streets and crashing into another vehicle. According to police, Maryxa Valle Zepeda, 18, who was the passenger in Zamora's vehicle (Pontiac) died from the injuries she sustained in the deadly crash.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office listed Zepeda's death at 12:35 a.m. on Sunday.

The 18-year-old female driver of the other vehicle (jeep) that Zamora crashed into and two pedestrians ages 50 and 53 who were standing outside a bar were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Zamora was also transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash and was placed in custody on suspicion of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle. Felony charges against Zamora are pending.

According to family members, Zepeda was at a party on Saturday night and her boyfriend, Zamora went to the party and Zepeda then left with him and shortly after, she passed away at the crash scene.

Zepeda's aunt said during a  candle light vigil on Sunday at the crash scene, that the family didn't know that Zamora was intoxicated when he left with Zepeda.

According to the aunt, Zepeda called her best friend and told her that she was afraid after noticing he was driving while intoxicated before he crashed into a jeep at an intersection.
