Melendez was hanging out the vehicle window when he discharged a weapon at another person before the vehicle he was in collided with the victim's vehicle.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Friday, Josue E. Melendez, 18, was charged with one felony count for discharging a firearm towards a person from a vehicle. Melendez is facing up to 12 years and 6 months in prison and up to $25,000 in fines, if convicted. A $25,000 cash bond was set for Melendez on Saturday when he appeared for a bail hearing.
According to court records, Melendez suffers from a cognitive disorder and takes anti-depressants. He has no prior convictions.
Melendez suffered multiple injuries including a stomach injury, which required surgery from the collision and was treated at a local hospital.
Trevon Maurice Galmore, 20, a co-defendant in the case was charged with one felony count for possession of a firearm by a felon. If convicted, Galmore is facing up to 10 years in prison and up to $25,000 in fines. A cash bail of $15,000 was set for Galmore on Saturday during a bail bond hearing.
Galmore was convicted in December 2019 for one felony count of 2nd-degree reckless injury with use of a dangerous weapon and was sentenced to five years in prison with 2 years and 6 months incarceration and 2 years and 6 months on supervision.
Both Melendez and Galmore are scheduled for a preliminary court hearing on April 4th.
According to Milwaukee police, Melendez was among 6 other occupants in a vehicle when he exchanged gunfire with another individual from a second vehicle before both vehicles collided with each other at the 3300 block of N. 77th Street around 6:23p.m. on Sunday, March 20, 2022. The shooting incident and collision of both vehicles was caught on a home door video surveillance camera. Two guns were recovered by police at the scene.
Last Sunday, police arrested Melendez, Galmore, an 18-year-old female, three 18-year-old males, a 17-year-old male and a 15-year-old male.
