Milwaukee, WI - On Thursday, Milwaukee Police Lieutenant Craig Henry from the Milwaukee Second Police District Station confirmed during a Crime Analysis meeting at the Walker's Point neighborhood that most of the stolen vehicles in the near Southside of Milwaukee have been committed by the Cut Throat (CT) auto theft gang. The CT gang began to steal vehicles about a year ago and today the gang has become structured involving juveniles and adults.
Lt. Henry issued a community alert of possible auto theft suspects, one of those suspects is Nelson A. Lopez who has been connected to 25 auto thefts in the Southside of Milwaukee. Other alleged suspects in the community alert include Victor S. Perez, Dahsanti Giovanni Bennett and Daniel A. Vela. Lt. Henry warned and alerted community members at the meeting about these suspects and want people to call police, if they are spotted in the neighborhood, so police could question them about their activity in the neighborhood.
The TC alleged members in the Southside are being monitored by police. Lt. Henry says, that at least 21 TC members reside in the Southside of Milwaukee and West Allis alone. Today, the membership by the gang has increased to more than 50 members including adults and many reside in Milwaukee. TC recruits teens through Facebook and has attracted membership by promoting a new trend to steal autos. Most of the stolen vehicles are Honda Civics and Accords between model years 2001 to 2008 for its faulty ignition key system. The vehicles are stolen between 3:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., according to police.
