Milwaukee, WI - Edward Deshazer, 30, of Cudahy was cited for a misdemeanor count of OWI first offense and a felony count for reckless endangering safety after he drove the wrong way for 2.3 miles along the Hoan bridge. If convicted, Deshazer is facing up to 10 years in prison on both counts.
Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched around 2:00 a.m. to the Hoan bridge on I-794 after a construction worker reported that Deshazer was going southbound on the northbound lanes of I-794.
Deshazer than lost control and crashed his white 2007 Ford expedition on the GM barrier walls near North Carferry Drive, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office (MCSO). Deshazer tested .18 on the PBT, a field preliminary breath test.
Deshazer told deputies he had been drinking at Dick's on Water Street before entering the wrong way on I-794 freeway at the Lincoln Memorial Drive entrance.
