Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico - On Friday, one of the founders and leader of the Nueva Generación Cartel, Erick Valencia Salazar, aka, "El 85" was taken into custody at a residence in Zapopan by the Mexican military. His right hand man, Otoniel Mendoza, aka, "Tony Montana" was also taken into custody with Salazar.
An estimated 30 weapons and grenades were also confiscated, according to the Secretary of Mexican National Defense (Sedena).
Jalisco state authorites reported that in retaliation, members of from the Nueva Generación set-up 16 road blocks and burned around 25 vehicles throughout the Guadalajara metropolitan area. One man was reported killed after he refused to leave his trailer and the body was burned along with the trailer.
