Editor's Body Found A Day After Being Kidnapped In Xalapa, Veracruz

The Milenio Xalapa editor was kidnapped on Wednesday night by a group of armed men.

Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico - On  Thursday, the body of Víctor Manuel Báez Chino was discovered at about 5:00 a.m. near the Juárez Park in the Capitol city of Xalapa, according to the Veracruz State Attorney's General Office. Mexican federal authorities have also joined the homicide criminal investigation and indicated that members of a criminal organization had been involved in Báez Chino's murder. No one or any criminal entity has come forward to take credit in Báez Chino's death.
At least nine journalists, including Báez Chino have been reported killed in the state of Veracruz, according to state authorities.
Báez Chino, an editor for the daily Milenio El Portal de Xalapa who handled police news reports was reported missing around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The editor was kidnapped by three armed men near the Milenio offices. After taking Báez Chino, they fled the scene in a gray vehicle, according to the daily Milenio El Portal de Xalapa.
