27 Milwaukee County Inmates Riot Over Unacceptable Conditions And Took Control Of The Jail Library, All Charged With Several Misdemeanors Including Party To A Crime

At least 27 Milwaukee County inmates were charged with several misdemeanors including party to a crime for the early August takeover and riot at the jail library.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Wednesday, at least 27 Milwaukee County inmates were criminally charged with several misdemeanors for obstructing or resisting an officer, disorderly order with an added enhancer of party to a crime for each separate charge that involved an August 12 takeover of the jail library leading to a riot triggered by unacceptable treatment and conditions inside the jail.

WISN 12 posted the 26 inmates mugshots in their social media news report on Wednesday. 

According to the criminal complaint, the inmates managed to overpower jail corrections officers and took over the jail library and then barricaded themselves inside while making threats and demands. The inmates broke the fire sprinklers flooding the library.

No hostages were taken by the inmates. A Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department emergency response team broke into the jail library through a window and took control of the inmates inside.

Four Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputies were injured during the extraction of the inmates from the library. One of the injured deputies was hospitalized, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.

The inmates demands and alleged unacceptable treatment by jail corrections officers and administrators at the jail were not immediately identified by the Sheriff's Office.

The inmates remain in lock down and library privileges have been temporarily suspended. An internal investigation by authorities is being conducted to determine what led to the unprecedented takeover of the jail library by the inmates and if there was insufficient number of corrections officers at the time the inmates took over the jail library.

If convicted, each inmate is facing 9 months in jail and up to $10,000 in fines for obstructing or resisting an officer, and up to 90 days in jail and up to 1,000 in fines for disorderly conduct.

Update: Milwaukee County sources indicate, that many inmates at the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Jail are allegedly kept in their cells locked up 24-7 and not allowed to share the adjoining pod area (number of cells have a pod area where inmates are allowed to congregate) due to shortage of corrections officers or deputies and there are at least two jail officers for every 60 inmates.

Also a previous report released by the Milwaukee Sheriff's Office confirmed that 40% of the staffing positions at the jail are not filled.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Saturday, 59 college bound students were awarded scholarships from the newly renamed Dr. Arturo Martinez Scholarship Fund sponsored by LULAC Council 333. The LULAC 333 and Milwaukee Brewers Latino Players Scholarship Fund was renamed this year as the Dr. Arturo Martinez Scholarship Fund in his honor, according to Fela Salinas, the President of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Council 333.

Dr. Arturo Martinez, 69, the former MATC Associate Dean and Adult Basic Education (ABE) Director who oversaw the Bilingual Program at the technical college passed away on early December 2022.

Dr. Martinez moved to Nevada in late November 2021 after he accepted a cabinet level position with the College of Southern Nevada (CSN). Dr. Martinez became the head the Division of Workforce and Economic Development for the College of Southern Nevada. This Division includes the Department of Adult Basic Education, the Department of Apprenticeship, and the Department of Continuing Education. Martinez also had a direct oversight for the College of Southern Nevada's two community education centers (Sahara West and Westside Ed and Training Center). 

Dr. Martinez was well known in the Latino community for his life long dedication of creating educational opportunities for Latinos in the Milwaukee Metro area and Wisconsin. He was also a long time volunteer for the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (WHSF/Mexican Fiesta) as an entertainment coordinator for the 3-day annual Mexican/Tejano music venue at the Summerfest grounds, including the Secretary for the WHSF Board of Directors.

This year, the LULAC Council 333 received a total of $60,000 in scholarship funds from the Brewers Community Fund (BCF) that included $30,000 in personal donations by the following Brewers players, Willy Adames, Victor Caratini, Alex Claudio, Javy Guerra, Elvis Peguero, Freddy Peralta, Abraham Toro and Luis Urias. A matching scholarship fund of $30,000 was donated by the BCF totalling $60,000.

Salinas also confirmed that LULAC Council 333 donated an additional $10,000 to the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation, Inc. who operates the 3-day Mexican Fiesta in late August at the Summerfest grounds. The fund is donated annually by Council 333.

Salinas released the following statement to Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) on Wednesday, "As President of Lulac Council 333, I would like to thank the Latino Baseball players of the Milwaukee Brewers and Katina Shaw for the continued partnership over the years."

Dr. Arturo Martinez was a huge Brewers Fan and his memory will live on through this continued partnership with the Milwaukee Brewers by furthering the education of Latino students that obtain these scholarships."

According to Mexican Fiesta sources, the 3-day attendance surpassed last year's record at the Summerfest grounds and by late Sunday, August 27, 2023, the attendance reached more than 110,000.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Tuesday, Jordan M. Tate, 26, of Sussex was sentenced to 56 years in prison including 16 years of extended supervision for the February 10, 2022 homicide of Krystal Tucker, 31, and shooting of several door security guards at the Brownstone Social Lounge on Water Street.

Tate was denied entry to the Brownstone Social Lounge by Tucker who was working the door because he was under the age requirement of 27 to enter. He got into an altercation with two security guards and pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots injurying the security guards and fatally striking Tucker, according to the criminal complaint.

Tate was convicted on July 21, 2023 for 1st-degree reckless homicide with usae of a dangerous weapon, two felony counts for 1st-degree reckless injury with use of a dangerous weapon.

Tate be back in court on October 10, 2023 at the Safety Building room 423 at 9:00 a.m. for a restitution hearing, according to court records.

Laredo, Texas - On August 18, the Laredo Police Department (LPD) sent a BOLO (Be On The Look Out), situation patrol advisory awareness bulletin from the LPD Criminal Intelligence Acquisition Unit (CIAU) to all police patrol units saying that FBI intelligence indicate that the Cartel del Noreste (CDN) has sent sicarios (paid assasins) to the border City of Laredo to kidnapped several targeted victims already in Laredo, according to multiple sources.

The BOLO was leaked and shared in social media. Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) is not identifying the BOLO source in order to protect the informant.

The BOLO advised police officers patrolling the streets on the bordertown to use extreme caution when investigating any alleged kidnapped incident.

No further information is available and no information by the CIAU has been released to local and national media to advise local citizens to report any suspicious kidnapped incidents they witness or encounter.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Friday, Lamar Conners, 17, was sentenced to 7 years in prison and 4 years of extended supervision for the October 12, 2022 homicide of Jonathan Robinson, 24, at the 1800 block of S. 25 Street in the Southside of Milwaukee.

Conners was charged with 2nd-degree reckless homicide on October 14, 2022 in connection with Robinson's murder and a weapon was recovered at the scene.

According to the criminal, Conners admitted to shooting Robinson after the victim began to fight with several individuals at a residence. Conners told police that he shot Robinson because he believed the victim would hurt someone. So, Conners saw a handgun on top of the table, picked it up and shot Robinson multiple times. Robinson being shot left the residence and was found suffering from gunshot wounds by police outside. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Conners was also ordered to pay $18,117.51 for mandatory court costs.

La Gordiloca Priscilla Villarreal Treviño Arrested For School Traspassing During Protest At Harmony Public School Over Bullying Negligence By Principal In Laredo

Villarreal Treviño was taken into custody after refusing to leave the Harmony Public School grounds until the principal comes out to talk to the parents protesting about bullying issues not being addressed at the school. The principal never came out.

Laredo, Texas - On Friday, Priscilla Villarreal Treviño, also known as La Gordiloca was taken into custody by Laredo Police Department officers after refusing to leave a Harmony Public Schools property. Villarreal Treviño accompanied Emiliano, 11, to his school to bring awareness that he has been a victim of continuous bullying at Harmony School, a charter school located at 4401 San Francisco Ave. in Laredo. His mother has found notes that indicate, Emiliano has been contemplating to commit suicide as a result of bullying. At Harmony, a 17-year-old female student has been encouraging a group of students to continue to bully Emiliano while at school and after school, according to Villarreal Treviño.

In a video posted by Villarreal Treviño in La Gordiloca News on Facebook shows the brother (dark shirt) of the 17-year-old girl fighting with Emiliano in a red shirt, an unidentified woman broke the fight up and the 17-year-old female student began to insult her. This girl (allegedly identified as I. M.) has been known to encourage other students to bully Emiliano and other kids at Harmony.

Villarreal Treviño also says that when she went viral on La Gordiloca News Facebook account about Emiliano's plight of constantly being bullied by other students, at least 14 other parents have contacted her to confirm that their kids have been also victims of being bullied by other students at Harmony and nothing has been done by the school administrators to address and stop the bullying in school or after school.

Villarreal Treviño and Emiliano were also accompanied by other parents to the school to protest.

Villarreal Treviño and other parents wanted the principal to come out and talk to them about her neglect to deal with the known bullying issue at Harmony, but she wouldn't talk to them without an appointment, according to a police officer at the scene.

Atlanta, Georgia - On Thursday, Donald J. Trump, 77, was booked at the Fulton County Sheriff's Jail on 13 criminal felony counts in connection with alleged election fraud and racketeering in Atlanta, Georgia. Trump posted a $200,000 bond with 10% cash down needed to post full bond.

19 defendants including Trump allegedly engaged in a criminal enterprise to overturn an election in 2020, according to Georgia prosecutors and criminal charges.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Wednesday, one of the 9 victims of last Saturday's mass shooting by El Rey Foodmart parking lot at the 1400 block of W. Burnham Street during the Puerto Rican impromptu flag waving and cruising celebration was identified as Jóse González, 30, by Jennessa Cruz who posted on her Facebook acount that González was out celebrating his culture and was at the wrong time and place when he was shot in the face. González is unable to work for a long time and needs to undergo therapy. 

González also has a daughter, according to Cruz. Cruz says that she is helping his family to raise funds for González.

On Saturday, August 19, 2023, González was among hundreds of individuals celebrating the Puerto Rican culture during an impromptu Puerto Rican flag waving and cruising gathering by El Rey Foodmart parking lot when someone began to discharge a weapon and someone else returned fire injurying at least 9 victims ages 16 to 42, 6 males including González and 3 females were reported injured.

WHSF Celebrating 50 Years Of Mexican Cultural Festive Tradition In Milwaukee Including Today's 3-day Mexican Fiesta At Summerfest

Mexican-Americans and Mexican nationals in the mid to the late 1960's faced discrimination in Milwaukee by the majority of the White status in state and local City government, local law enforcement (police) and the Milwaukee Public School District that represented the majority of the White population.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On August 25 - 27, the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation (WHSF), Inc., a non-profit organization that currently operates the annual 3-day Mexican Fiesta, since 1987 at the Summerfest grounds will be celebrating 50 years of Mexican cultural festive tradition in Milwaukee. The first Fiesta Mexicana celebrations began in the Southside of Milwaukee streets to coincide with the annual Mexican Independence Day, September 16.

In the mid to the late 1960's, the Milwaukee Public School District prohibited Latino/Hispanic students, especially Mexican-Americans from celebrating the September 16th Mexican Independence Day and Cinco de Mayo traditional festive days in City schools, so the the growing Mexican community population and students began to celebrate at organized block festivals in the Southside of Milwaukee.

In 1977, the Latin American Union for Civil Rights (LAUCR) headed by Salvador Sánchez, a former United Migrant Opportunity Services (UMOS) director and Ernesto Chacon, a local Latino community Civil Rights organizer and known activist began to operated the 3-day Fiesta Mexicana at the Summerfest grounds until the organization stopped operating the event. Also, many volunteers at Fiesta Mexicana were Latino educators and administrators from the Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC). The 3-day festival slot in late August opened up at the Summerfest grounds, also the Henry Maier Festival Park operated by the Milwaukee World Festival (MWF), Inc., which rented the park year round from the City of Milwaukee for just $1.00, today MWF rents the grounds from the City for more than $1,000,000 annually. Then MWF rented weekend festive slots to ethnic non-profit organizations to hold their traditional cultural festivals.

In 1986, the City of Milwaukee and Elizabeth "Bo" Black, the Director from Summerfest awarded the 3-day weekend slot in late August to the non-profit LULAC Council 9900, which the elected Council President was Rodolfo Martinez and the Council was known to provide scholarships to students seeking higher education. LULAC Council 9900 began to use the name Mexican Fiesta for the 3-day festival.

When Martinez finish his term, new LULAC Council 9900 officials were elected and several new LULAC Councils were started by UMOS. 

Eventually in 1987, business individuals witnessed the profit generated by Mexican Fiesta and decide to a take over Mexican Fiesta and created the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation, Inc., which continued as a non-profit organization with the LULAC Councils 333, 342 and 343. 

Today, Mexican Fiesta has provided $1,850,000 of scholarships to students with U.S. Citizenship or legal permanant residency and LULAC National (education fund) matched the amount  of scholarships offered by WHSF and its LULAC Councils.

In 2013, Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) learned that WHSF, Mexican Fiesta and LULAC National educational fund matching fund excluded undocumented students from applying for scholarships and exposed it.

In February 2014, the WHSF, Mexican Fiesta and the LULAC National education fund changed their discriminatory policy to exclude undocumented students from receiving scholarships and then allowed for only DACA registered students to apply for annual scholarships.

Mexican Fiesta draws more than 80,000 festivalgoers per year.

Congrats to the WHSF, Mexican Fiesta and its LULAC Councils in celebrating 50 years of Mexican cultural festive tradition in Milwaukee and the State of Wisconsin.

This year's Mexican Fiesta 2023 will be held on August 25 -27, at the Summerfest grounds.

A 55-Year-old Hispanic Male Fatally Shot At The 1500 Block of W. Bruce Street Totaling 13 Victims Shot And 1 Homicide Over The Weekend In Milwaukee's Southside

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Sunday, Milwaukee police reported that four individuals were shot around 8:45 p.m. at the 1200 block of W. Historic Mitchell Street in the Southside of Milwaukee. All the victims, a 29-year-old female, 26-year-old male and a 19-year-old male are expected to survive. A 22-year-old male suspect was also injured and later arrested in connection with the shooting.

In an unrelated fatal shooting, Carlos Cruz, 55, was shot around 10:11 p.m. at the 1500 block of W. Bruce Street in the chest and died at the scene, according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office. Sources say that there was a large gathering on W. Bruce with people in vehicles waving flags and cruising during the PR celebration impromptu gathering in the secluded area.

Police also have an ongoing investigation of a mass shooting on Saturday by the El Rey Foodmart parking lot at the 1400 block of W. Burnham Street. 6 men and 3 women ages 16 to 42 were shot and suffered non-life threatening injuries during an altercation between two groups during the Puerto Rican impromptu flag waving and cruising celebration/event.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Saturday, August 19, 2023, Milwaukee police responded at around 11:44 p.m. to multiple shots fired at the 1400 block of S. 14 Street by the El Rey Foodmart parking lot location and found at least 9 individuals had been shot during a shooting altercation. 6 men and 3 women ages 16 to 42 suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds, according to police. 

A shotspotter at the 1300 block of W. Forest Home registered multiple gunshots, at 11:17 p.m., according to police.

Apparently, a massive group of individuals gathered by the El Rey Foodmart in an impromptu Puerto Rican flag waving and cruising event when an altercation ignited between various groups and multiple shots were discharged.

Several videos in social media were shared, one Facebook (FB) video posted by Yahiara Fuentes, Ivee Aviila and Jesus Rodriguez shows people running and multiple shots being discharged and the second FB video posted by TeamAnti Hipócritas shows an injured individual getting aid by police at the El Rey Foodmart parking lot.

Police are looking for unknown suspect(s) in connection with the mass shooting by Foodmart. Video surveillance footage from Foodmart and surrounding businesses are being reviewed by police to identify the suspects.

A Latino community gathering (prayer vigil) was scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the 1400 block of W. Burnham St. to bring awareness to an increase of shootings during impromptu flag waving and cruising celebrations during Hispanic/Latino cultural festive days in the Southside of Milwaukee.

In an unrelated incident, on May 5, 2023, during the Cinco de Mayo Impromptu Mexican flag waving and cruising event at S. César E. Chávez Drive, several individuals discharged their weapons. Deon Nabors, 17, was charged with firing an altered handgun that fired automatic gunshots into the air. Nabors was shot by a nearby police officer and arrested.

Nabors was charged with two felonies for 2nd-degree recklessly endangering safety including use of a dangerous weapon and for possession of a machine gun, and one misdemeanor count for possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18. A $5,000 cash bail was set for Nabors.

The second individual from City of Greenfield was not charged because police say, another unknown suspect fired at the individual and he returned gunfire as self-defense, according to police. No one was reported injured in this incident.

Waukegan, Illinois - A Special City of Waukegan public meeting scheduled by several Waukegan Council members including Alderman Keith Turner from the 6th Ward failed to get quorum (majority of 6) and was not held to address multiple agenda items pertaining to transparency issues and other questionable practices concerning Waukegan Mayor Ann Taylor's husband having after hours access to the mayor's computer system and her office when she and her staff are not present. The mayor's husband, Wayne Taylor is not employed by the City of Waukegan.

Another City of Waukegan fiasco to have been addressed was the continued blatant racist and discriminatory practices by Mayor Taylor and City departments concerning the September 17, 2023 Fiestas Patrias Mexican Independence Day Parade in the City. 

According to a Facebook video that was posted on Thursday, August 17, 2023 by Alderman Turner, he claimed that Mayor Taylor restricted organizers of the Fiestas Patrias to only have 60 participants in the parade and prohibited parade organizers from including horses (Charros/cowboys) in the parade, which would be enforced by police and the City special events headed by Carlos Parada, the Finance Coordinator/Special Events.

According to Waukegan City officials, the City's Safety Team decided for 60 parade entrants like floats and dance troupes that would  only allow at least ten people to participate totaling at least 600 parade participants (limit will be enforced) for each planned Mexican Independence Day parade event on September 17. Apparently, Puro Futbol Mexican Independence Day parade organizers received a parade permit as well and will follow the same parade route at Fiestas Patrias on Washington Street. One parade will start at 10:00 a.m. and the other at 12:30 p.m., according to Waukegan City officials.

According to information received by Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA), Parada met with other City departments and decided to create unprecedented restricted policies targeted at Fiestas Patrias. Other prior parades including the 4th of July parade and events that have taken place in the City of Waukegan, had no such restrictions in place and such restrictions have never been enacted before by City officials without the City Council approval and in some cases, parade and police service fees for those parades and events were waived, according to Fiestas Patrias organizers that claim, City officials including Mayor Taylor have engaged in targeted racist and discriminatory acts against the Fiestas Patrias non-profit organization.

Fiestas Patrias has been organizing an annual Mexican Independence Day parade in September for 40 years and last year they had horses in their parade and Mayor Taylor was the Grand Marshall for the parade and rode on a horse driven carriage.

The Fiestas Patrias September parade attracts thousands of visitors from Wisconsin and surrounding states including from Mexico that generate millions of dollars in the City, boosting the local economy as well.

This Year, Fiestas Patrias will host local events from September 1st to the 17th,  the day of the parade and one-day festival.

Now, Parada is requesting a list of Fiestas Patrias participating vendors and parade participants, which no City ordinance and the Council members have yet to approved such a requirement, nor has the Council ever approved such a restriction to only have 60 parade participants and no horses with Mexican Charros (cowboys) allowed in the parade for September 17th.

Alderman Turner says, that he read in a newspaper on Waukegan that two Mexican Independence Day parades were approved by the City for September 17th, for different times. The other alleged parade organizer is Oscar Zepeda from Puro Futbol Newspaper, which is not legally registered with the State of Illinois as a business to pay taxes.

Apparently, Margaret Carrasco, the President of the Fiestas Patrias recently registered the Puro Futbol name and other entities related to Puro Futbol in her name, according to State of Illinois records.

Victim Files A Discrimination, Retaliation And Sexual Harassment Complaint With The Federal EEOC And UISD Human Resources Against UISD Superintendent David H. González In Laredo, Texas

UISD Superintendent González facing a federal discrimination, retaliation and sexual harassment complaint by a UISD employee, according to recent federal document filings by the victim and her attorneys with the EEOC.

Laredo, Texas - On late Sunday, August 13, 2023, Priscilla Villarreal Treviño, 37, also known as La Gordiloca (Lagordiloca News LaredoTx Facebook page) exposed (FB post: https://tinyurl.com/3pv9pys3) the current United Independent School District (UISD) Superintendent David H. González, 59, from Laredo, Texas for attempting to coerce Ana Cordova (identified by La Gordiloca) who allegedly claimed that she was sexually harassed in 2011 by González who was then the principal of Washington Middle School. In the audio recording played by La Gordiloca on her Facebook account on Sunday night, González is trying to coach Cordova what to say in order for the sexual harassment case to be dismissed against him and he also told her that he went to a local priest and confessed about what he did and he apologized to Cordova. He also told her that U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar called him concerning his situation. 

In the audio recording (dated: April 2021), González also confessed to what had happened with Cordova, but it seems that he was trying to save his current job, especially when he was attempting to coerce Cordova to recant her sexual harassment allegations with the UISD Human Resources and to lie, which allegedly makes him guilty of sexual harassment and coercing the victim in order to avoid an internal investigation against him by the UISD and Board Members.

Cordova claims that due to the sexual harassment in 2011, she suffered panic attacks, very high blood pressure and depression and was hospitalized. Her doctor recommended a change of work or she would suffer a serious illness.

Cordova and her attorneys at Altgelt Law Offices filed a sex discrimination, retaliation and sexual harassment complaint on August 10, 2023 with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and David R. Canales, the Associate Superintendent of Human Resources, United Independent School District in Laredo, Texas.

Cordova and her attorneys are seeking for Superintendent González and his personal assistant Lorena Chávez to be terminated for cause by the UISD Board of Trustees and are seeking compensation for all the distress caused to Cordova by both González and Chávez who facilitated the phone call between González and Cordova, according to the complaint. 

Also, the complaint and the audio recording of González, Chávez and Cordova was sent to the Texas Rangers for criminal investigation and to multiple local mainstream media who have yet to publish the sexual harassment complaint against UISD Superintendent González.

Racial Slur Name For Cow Outed At Wisconsin State Fair 2023, After Black Community Outraged, White Exhibitor No Longer At Fair

The Wisconsin State Fair had allowed Tianda Hildebrandt, who is White to exhibit her award winning 3-year-old cow named Milgene Tatoo Jigaboo, which Blacks consider Jigaboo a racial slur, extremely equivalent to calling an African-American a "Nigger".

West Allis, Wisconsin - Multiple racial slur complaints from the Black community outed a cow exhibitor at the Wisconsin State Fair for naming her cow Milgene Tatoo Jigaboo. Jigaboo is considered an extremely racial slur equivalent to naming a Black person, "nigger, coon, nigra or spade". The 3-year-old cow named Milgene Tatoo Jigaboo was exhibited in the Junior Show at the Wisconsin State Fair by Tianda "Tia" Hildebrandt, 17, from Hustisford in Dodge County.

Since, the racial slur name outing at the Wisconsin State Fair 2023, the cow's name was changed to Milgene Tatoo Puzzle, and is no longer exhibited at the State Fair. Officials at the State Fair say that they don't tolerate or condone this behavior and took swift and deliberate action to rectify this situation, and the exhibitor is no longer at the State Fair.

Black community activist Vaun I. Mayes posted several images showing the racial slur name of the cow on his Facebook account.

Mayes criticized Wisconsin State Fair 2023 officials for allowing Hildebrandt to register her cow with a racial slur name and not catching it until members of the Black community began to complain about it in social media and tagged the Wisconsin State Fair Facebook page.

The Hildebrandt family released a statement apologizing to the Black community, Wisconsin State Fair and dairy farmers for using the racially insensitive term and once it was found that using the word was harmful and unacceptable they changed the cow's name to Puzzle.
