Oaxaca Family And Baby Murdered By Mexican Criminal Group

Pinotepa Nacional, Oaxaca, Mexico - Oaxaca state homicide investigators confirmed that a group of armed suspects believed to belong to a local criminal group or a Mexican drug cartel were responsible for the brutal murder of a 7-month-old child, a teenager and an adult in the municipality of Pinotepa Nacional, a regional coastal town in Oaxaca. The victims were as identified as Juan Alberto Pano Ramos, 24, from Pinotepa Nacional, his wife Alba Isabel Colón, 17, from Collantes and 7-month-old Marco Miguel Pano Colón. 

The Oaxaca State Criminal Investigation Agency (OSCIA) reported, that on Friday around 8:40 p.m., Ramos and his family were fatally shot just outside of the Vig's store located across from the Bachillerato Tecnológico de Agropecuario by unknown suspects. Ramos was carrying his son in his arms when they were fatally shot.

The suspects shot the victims with a 38 Caliber weapon and then fled from the scene, according to the OSCIA.

Ramos and his family were residing at the Porvenir de Pinotepa neighborhood near the corner of Oriente and 14 Poniente Streets. Ramos sold fish tacos at the central marketplace, according to authorities. 

The homicide investigation is ongoing.

In another unrelated homicide iinvestigation, the OSCIA reported that on Friday, a 14-year-old girl and her 40-year-old father were fatally shot in the municipality of Miahuatlan de Profirió Diaz in Oaxcaca by unknown suspects. The 39-year-old mother of the girl was the lone survivor and was transported to a local medical center for treatment of her gunshot injuries.

Update: The OSCIA investigation indicates that Juan Alberto Pano Ramos, 24, and his family, a teenage wife and son were walking along with Isidro González Geronimo who used the aliases Victor Enrique de la Paz Velasquez "El Isis" when they were targeted and shot by unknown suspects. Apparently, Ramos worked for El Isis who operated a drug distribution business disguised as a Tortilla making business. Isis was wanted in connection with multiple kidnappings and homicides in the region, according to OSCIA.
OSCIA confirmed that El Isis was also shot along with the Ramos family and was taken to a local hospital and dropped off by the door. El Isis later died at the hospital as a result of his injuries. OSCIA went to where Isis resided and found a black SUV believed to have been used to transport Isis to the hospital. At the Isis residence, four suspects were taken into custody, Abacuc Quiroz Riveros, 41, from El Carrizo, Manuel García Casanova, 47, from Marquelia Guerrero and Isis's brother Juan Carlos González Gerónimo, 36, also from Marquelia Guerrero. The suspects worked for El Isis in the drug operation and the OSCIA claims that a rival criminal group located El Isis walking along with the Ramos family and ambused them.
No one has been arrested in the Ramos family and El Isis homicide.
