Milwaukee Southsiders Welcomed MPD Captain Heather N. Wurth To 2nd Police District Station

Hundreds of Milwaukee Southside residents attended a meet and greet welcoming gathering for MPD Captain Wurth.

Milwaukee, WI - On Wednesday, more than 350 Southside residents attended a gathering to welcome 2nd Milwaukee Police District Station Captain Heather N. Wurth at the Journey House, 2100 block of S. 21 Street. Captain Wurth thanked everyone in attendance and for the overwhelming welcome to the district. She gave credit to her police officers and auxiliary officers from the station for working with community organizations, businesses and residents in making Wednesday's event successful.
Assistant Milwaukee Police Chief James Harpole also thanked the community for their support and attendance to Captain Wurth's welcoming party. Lieutenant Craig Henry managed the raffle and gave away prizes to residents donated by local businesses.
Local Southside businesses donated food, ice cream, 60 large pizzas, beans, rice, fruit, carnitas, chicken dishes, beverages (sodas and water) and raffle complimentary prizes were given to fortunate winners. Captain Wurth took time to personally meet people at the event. She went from table to table and talked to residents.
Captain Wurth during a previous interview with Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) said, that district two has dedicated police officers including Spanish Speaking officers and a Milwaukee County Community Prosecution Unit (CPU) that works in partnership with the community. Two of the Community Liaison Police Officers at district two are Jose Acevedo and Jesús Gloria.
Captain Wurth confirmed that she will be attending both the Spanish and English  language community crime analysis meetings in the Southside, so that she can meet community members residing in the area.
Captain Wurth has an impressive career with MPD, she has been with the Milwaukee Police Department for 23 years and have worked a variety of assignments, both patrol and administrative. Captain Wurth previously worked at District 3, District 4, District 5, District 7, the Warrant Squad (now known as the Fugitive Apprehension Unit), the Vice Squad, and Internal Affairs.  "During my patrol assignments, I have been enthusiastically involved in activities designed to build community relationships and believe this to be integral to the success of the Department and its officers, as well as the strengthening of our neighborhoods.  I have also been committed, through my administrative assignments at the Internal Affairs Division and as an adjunct instructor, to the partnerships between professionalism and advanced training," Captain Wurth stated.
Captain Wurth has a Master's Degree in Administration of Justice from Marquette University and is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy Session # 249.
In attendance at the event to meet Captain Wurth were former 12th District Alderman Angel Sánchez, incumbent 12th District Alderman José Pérez, 8th District Alderman Bob Donovan and State Representative Josh Zepnick (D-Milw.) from the 9th Assembly District.
The meet and greet event for Captain Wurth was sponsored by Bargain Town Auto, Mr. Churro, Journey House, Clarke Square Neighborhood Initiative, Milwaukee Christian Center/BNCP, Historic Mitchell Street BID 4, Chicken Palace, JoJo's Chicken, La Luna Liquor, Wild Flour Bakery, Santiago Agency, Steny's Tavern & Grill, Mayra's Jugos y Frutas, Warehouse Nightclub, La Fuente Restaurant and PNC Bank.
