Woman Reported Shot Inside Milwaukee's Potawatomi Casino By Boyfriend

Milwaukee police arrested a 27-year-old man after shooting his 23-year-old girlfriend in the leg during an altercation inside the Potawatomi Bingo Casino gambling floor.

Milwaukee, WI - On early Sunday, Milwaukee police responded to a shooting around 1:30 a.m. inside the Potawatomi Bingo Casino, 1721 W. Canal Street after a 23-year-old woman was reported shot in the left leg by her boyfriend. 
The woman, her boyfriend and brother were at the casino gambling when an argument ignited between the woman and her boyfriend. Her brother attempted to defuse the situation, but the woman's boyfriend pulled out a weapon and fired at the girlfriend injuring her.
Everyone, including the security personnel hit the floor in the area, according to witnesses at the casino and local news outlets. While others in a panic ran to the nearest bathrooms. Security at the casino is unarmed.
The woman was taken to Froedtert Hospital and is expected to survive and several other minor injuries were also reported by people who fled the chaotic crime scene.
Police took the woman's 27-year-old boyfriend from Wauwatosa into custody. The casino remained closed until 9:00 a.m. when investigators ended their crime scene investigation. Surveillance camera videos inside the casino were recovered by police to determine what actually happened.
The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office is expected to get the case for possible charges this week, according to police.
Potawatomi representatives say, that no one was seriously injured and police, including their security acted quickly to contain the "extremely isolated event."
In an unrelated incident, an estimated five to six shots were fired around 2:30 p.m. on early Sunday in the area 3500 block of W. National Ave. No one was reported in custody.
