Milwaukee, WI - On Friday, Reinaldo Jojes Acosta, 52, was charged with two felony counts of impersonating an peace officer to aid in a commission of a crime. Acosta recently got out of prison after serving 6 years in prison for the same offense.
Acosta allegedly took several hundred dollars from a victim in May when the victim was accused by Acosta of selling drugs. He identified himself as a federal agent or immigration police and convinced the victim to give him money. He even took the man to the downtown Police Administration Building where Acosta took more money from him.
While identifying himself as a federal agent or immigration police, Acosta never showed a badge or identification to the victims.
Two weeks later, Acosta identified himself as federal police and also managed to get money from another Hispanic victim in the south side, according to the criminal complaint.
Bail was set at $25,000 for Acosta. If convicted, Acosta is facing up to 6 years in prison and $10,000 in fines. Acosta's second court appearance will be on June 17 for a preliminary hearing, according to court records.
