Washington, D.C. - On Friday, Herb Kohl (D) from Wisconsin announced his retirement from the U.S. Sneate and will not run for a fifth term in 2012. Kohl will finish his term, which he would have served 24 years as a senator. Kohl was first elected in 1988 and since then had never received less than 52% of the vote to elect him.
Kohl is currently serving his fourth term in the U.S. Senate which will expire at the end of the 112th Congress on January 3, 2013.
President Barack H. Obama called Kohl to wish him well.
