Milwaukee - On Thursday, Johnathan Lee Kirk, 21, was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with 18 felony counts stemming from serial rapes. Kirk was charged with 10 counts of first-degree sexual assaults with a dangerous weapon, 4 counts of armed robbery and use of force and 4 counts of kidnapping.
The suspect was connected by DNA to sexually assaulting five women and robbing six between the ages of 15 to 34, according to the criminal complaint. The assaults occured from March 16 to April 21 in the North side from N. 60th St. to N. 18 St., between W. Wright St. to W. Clarke St. in Milwaukee.
Kirk who is considered homeless was taken into custody on April 26, for loitering, prowling and possession of a BB gun. He was later released, but police took a sample of his DNA. When a match was confirmed with the DNA taken from victims of the assaults, police took Kirk into custody again on May 5.
Kirk finally confessed to police and began to cry, according to the criminal complaint.
If convicted on all charges, Kirk is facing life in prison.
