Madison - A state warrant has been issued for the arrest of Omar Tavizon-Ramos, 21, of Janesville, after he was reported missing from the University of Wisconsin hospital in Madison. Ramos was being treated for an April 24 leg injury he sustained in a fatal crash.
On Monday, he was allowed to go outside in a wheelchair unsupervised, but apparently strolled away, boarded a bus and disappeared, according to a police report. Ramos has a cast on his right leg. Hospital officials reported Ramos missing around 10:00 p.m. to Janesville police and no further details were released by the hospital to confirm, if Ramos was being surpervised by security or hospital staff.
Ramos is accused of causing a fatal crash while driving intoxicated in April killing Jeffery Bauer, 19, and Magaret Worden, 61, in Janesville. Bauer died at the scene and Worden later died on May 6, from her injuries.
Ramos is facing multiple charges for driving while license suspended causing death and bodily harm, homicide while driving intoxicated and driving while intoxicated first offense, according to police.
