Kenosha, WI - On Monday, Lucia Hernández-Alvarez, 34, was charged with two counts of 1st-degree intentional homicide in connection with Saturday's murder of her two children, Alicia, 3, and Javier, 1. Her bond was set at $5M. Hernández-Alvarez is facing two life terms in prison, if convicted on both counts.
Hernández-Alvarez had tried to commit suicide, but survived. She was hospitalized on Saturday and was released on Sunday to Kenosha police custody.

According to the criminal complaint, Hernández-Alvarez kept a journal detailing how she suffocated her two children and what she did to herself. She also notified her sister by mail a day earlier that she intended to murder the children.
The father, Juan Arrellano discovered the bodies of the children in their room after he came home from work around 3:00 a.m. and also found Hernández-Alvarez who tried to overdose with alcohol and pills.
