Santa Ana, CA - Qayed Murtaza Shareef, 39, of Aliso Viejo has been charged with 30 felony counts for lewd acts with children under 14, one felony count of using a minor for sex acts, one felony count of distributing pornography to a minor, one felony count of possession or control of child pornography, with a sentencing enhancement for substantial sexual conduct with a child under 14 years old and committing lewd acts upon multiple victims. If convicted, Shareef faces a maximum sentence of 752 years in state prison.
Shareef is the CEO for an Irvine-base high tech firm, Adaptive Media, Inc. He allegedly coerced children to commit sexual acts through the Internet. Shareef didn't touch the children, but made children commit sex acts with each others, then had them record videos and photos while committing sex acts.
One of the videos was found by a mother who notified authorities. Shareef was using the alias Jeremy Stevens on a Tango application.
He even engaged in sex acts by himself, video record them and took photos which were then send to children he had contacted on the Internet.
He was taken into custody on January 21 in Orange County and a $2M bail was set.
